Anyone have any updates re Singapore Air and VS negotiations? Feel it's a bit dicey planning travel in the near future without some assuredness that they are still good for current miles/tp status.

Thanks,

Well I earned miles/TPs down to SYD...

According to an article on The Wall Street Journal, SQ have decided not to dispose of their 49% stake in VS at this time, partly due to the current financial situation.

Not too helpful really but it looks like it wont happen soon but hasnt been ruled out.

Thanks Will. Hopefully it will stay for the long run:) Is SQ in good shape financially?

Thanks Will--that is helpful. Doesn't sound as though there will be huge changes in the near future, which is most excellent. I did wonder if perhaps the SIA push to sell was to fund their China entry expansion plans, which don't seem to be going well at the moment.

Haven't read much about SQ's China plans - and nothing since they bought a 15% share in China Eastern last month.
They have however signed a code-share agreement with US Airways..

Not surprising given both airlines links to *a.

SQ is in fine shape financially. Just try and book a flight from EWR->SIN.
