After my previous earlier questions re seat plans etc - last night I took a deep breath and booked out from LHR to EWR on VS001 an May 29th
I salected seat as per 747 config 4 - all was fine.
But today whilst exploring another booking - I noted from 'Expert-flyer' that another plane type was stated as operating my LHR - EWR booking - said 744 whatever that is.
So I checked with the VS on line flight timetable and the VS001 was stated as 747.
But on going to the 'amend your booking' page and checking my chosen seat numbers it does seem that an airbus is on the flight as my allocated seats have changed.
So
Can anyone out there advise what aircraft type is scheduled for VS001 on May 29th
Many thanks

A 744 simply refers to a 747-400. Makes it easier on the systems. Unfortunately, the actual plane can be changed right up to the departure time so there is no way to know what you will get.

Best bet is to use the OLCI or turn up early if you have what a specific seat.

The most accurate tool will be the seat map that shows in the 'manage my booking' section on the VS site. This is the current a/c type and config that is scheduled to operate your flight, but doesn't mean it is the one that will.

The VS1 is predominately a 744 flight but over the last 3 months 14% of the movements have been on the 346. There is no scheduled change over point where the 346 operates instead of the 744, but due to something like, what the loads are looking like, planned maintenance on the 744's etc things do change.

Whichever a/c operates the flight you will still get the same UC product and service so I am sure you will have a great flight. A good tip it to keep checking the VS site as quite often it could change 2 or 3 times right up till the day of departure so you then have the best chance of bagging the best seats on either config.

Hmmm.. Interesting thread title. Not sure that a possible aircraft change is the worst thing that can happen when you are flying. [}:)][;)]

Hi Nottingham Nick
Problem is that Mrs Fairphil was very concerned about us sitting 'close' to each other.
As I have said it seems to me that the VS UC seats are 'really' position for business travellers - not married couples.
So we had booked the middle two seats on the lower deck lay out with the 747 config 4
Now - if the plane type switch is correct we have an aisle between us.
Believe me - for a first adventure into the price range of UC that IS a major problem for Mrs FairPhil - IT REALLY IS.
Many thanks

Well I can understand where you are coming from, however one thing to remember is that you have booked the tickets, when you booked them you were able to pick seats next to eachother, from then on anything that will happen will be VS's fault not yours [:D]

However, my wife had similar concerns on her first UC flight, she wanted the 'couples' seats, I did not, so seeing as they were my miles I grabbed two seats upstairs. After spending a nice afternoon at the SFO clubhouse (which is nothing compared to the LHR one) she was still a little bit put out about not having with in ear shot, 10 minutes after sitting in her suite and having the IFBT come round she had forgotten I was there, full marks to the crew who made her first flight the experience it should be.

Anyways what I am getting at, if the wife has never flown international business class, let the experience work for you, the clubhouse will set her mind into a haze, let the space and the crew do the rest.
