Hope someone can help, i've read the T&C's regarding earning FC miles on a partner airline and still am non the wiser.[:?]

We are flying with SQ to KUL via SIN next week. We booked this route rather than via Bangkok (which was cheaper but with Thai airlines) to earn VS flying miles (direct to KUL was extortionate)

Having flown this route several times before i have always earned VS flying miles. However it has been pointed out by a colleague that to earn miles you need to be in a specific class. We have V class seats in Y on both legs. According to FC T&C's V class with SQ doesn't earn miles.

However the FC T&Q's also say that
Quote '15.6 Singapore Airlines:
All flights on Singapore code share services bearing the 'VS' flight number prefix will earn miles.'

Which infers i will earn miles as the flight is a SQ/VS codeshare.

I think i understand that this means if a codeshare you earn miles, if a none code share you have to be in a specific seat class to earn VS miles [?]

Am i thinking correct here? [:?]

13000 FC miles each at stake here which will get us to the magic 100,000 !!! [y]

Thanks in anticipation !

Have you spoken to FC to clarify they should be able to enlighten about the codeshare?

Also, Make sure you hold on to your boarding stubs, as even if FC details logged onto booking, you may still need to post claim.
Especially as had issues in last few weeks with SQ not allocating booking/FC details correctly at LHR

I am guessing that the bit about the SQ/VS codeshare really means;

1. If you're ticketed on the flight with a SQ flight number, then you have to be in the right fare bucket to get VS miles.
2. If you're ticketed on the flight with a VS codeshare flight number, then you get VS miles irrespective of the fare bucket your ticket is in.

That's my guess. I am, of cousre, happy for someone to prove me wrong. If I am right, then time to check the e-tickets.

Thanks

I had spoken with FC before posting and the 2 agents both came up with different answers ![n]

The first said he himself didn't understand the T&C's so his best guess was i won't get them, he asked a colleague who said i would, they both asked the manager who said see what happens and if i don't get them write in ![:?]

I read it that if you booked with SQ and a V class ticket, you won't earn any miles.

If you booked through VS and on a codeshare flight (you have a flight number of VSxxx) then you will earn miles.

Have had the definitive answer today from flying club support- No miles earnt on the flights.

Apparently to earn them as a codeshare the ticket must be bought from VS so they will apply a VS flight number and any economy seat they sell will always be booked in Y class (as they can't book any others with SQ)

If you book direct with SQ (even if it is also a codeshare) you need to ensure you are in the right fare class.

Here's the problem though if you book with SQ via their web site you cannot select a specific class, not during the booking process can you see (even in the T&C's) what class you have booked. It only tells you when payment has been made and a e-ticket issued. (and then you can't change or cancel the ticket). If during the booking process you click on view T&C's it will tell you about stopovers, refunds, changes etc but DOESN'T show the fare class

Having spoken to SQ about this they say that the only way to book a specific class is to ring them, but then the fare is always more that the internet fare !

So lesson learned, always ring SQ to book if you want to guarantee miles & TP's, or book via VS as a codeshare (which VS couldn't do for our flights as there was a leg to KUL) and pay more money.

So Mr & Mrs Chumba lost approx 14-15K of miles each and 6 TP's which would have got them both to silver, but now as of the end of the month out TP's reset and we are back to 0,zilch nada.[n]

100% correct, as with all partners you have to make sure you are booking into the correct ticket bucket.

Call SQ and see how much it will be to get it into the correct bucket.
