I am flying from Gatwick to St Lucia on Virgin Atlantic 031, returning on Virgin Atlantic 032, flying premium economy.

I believe on this flight on the 747, premium economy is upstairs?, which are the best 2 seats in Premiuim Economy so I can pre-book the seats?

Hi ecnirp,

The best two seats in PE on the LGW fleet are probably row 75 ( the exit row seats). However these CANNOT be prebooked and are allocated at the airport. The same goes for row 71 ( bulkhead).
Row 74 is just ahea of the exit and you eould not have anybody behind you.

I would probably go forward as far as I could ( Row 72-73-74) and see if I could grab Row 75,71 at checkin.

Regards

Accepting the point about the exit row, my preference is either 79A&C (as this has a little side table) or 80 H&K.

Both have no one behind you so you recline soon after take off, but more importantly, are close to the exit and therefore you can be first off the plane. This is very helpful if you have to negotiate long immigration lines.;)

I have to agree with Buns4vs. Whenever I fly out of LGW in PE I always take 79c because of a; the little table beside the seat, and b; nobody behind. And of course you can be the first one down the stairs and off the flight asap.

If you are tall and you really want row 75 try ringing the flying club. I did this and whilst they couldnt officially allocate those seats they held them for me on both the outbound and inbound routes pending visual confirmation of my fitness to sit there at the aiport. Otherwise I agree sit as far back as possible to be first off

Thanks for that, I will ring virgin and see what I can pre-book.

I'm flying down the day before and staying over at the le meridien onsite at Gatwick, so I'm doing the twilight checkin the day before, me and my wife are healthy and have sat in emergency exit seats before on Virgin, so I'll see if i can get them since I check in day before, I read in this forum that Virgin are now charging £50 to sit in emergency exit seats, is this the same in PE?

I flew back from MCO in February and was given an exit row seat and didn't have to pay anything

My husband and I are flying from JFK to LHR and were assigned seats 71 A-C in PE upstairs. These were given to us over the phone we did not request them.:D

IIRC, this is only for Economy exit row seats

Cheers

Have to say, i recline soon after take-off anyway - usually the person in front of me has as well, so there's not much choice in the matter! :)

Sitting in 80H is a very good way of getting off the plane first, I must concur!
