Yesterday, I called VS to switch my upcoming suite assignment from 6K to something else. I did this after reading others' reports here that 6A and 6K (bulkhead, lower deck of UC) are very close together. One person reported that a tall passenger in 6A kept kicking him, resulting in no sleep.

I mentioned this to the VS agent, and he assured me that the seats and foot rests in 6 are plenty far apart. I told him that just to be on the safe side, I'd like to switch ("is 7K available?"). He again told me I have nothing to worry about in 6K. Finally, I just said something like "I'd really like to switch, will you let me do that?". He then gave me 7K.

It's not a big deal, but it sure was strange for this guy to resist me like this.

Of course what you could have done was visited the Virgin website and changed the seat assignment yourself online:)

Actually, I'm suprised that you were allocated a bulk head seat, I thought these were only assigned at check-in

Like the original poster I rang VS to change our upcoming suite assignment having read others' reports. We too had 6K and 7K. I had no problem changing it to 15K and 16K.

I couldn't change the seat assignment on the website as I had booked through a travel agent and that facility isn't available yet

I too was unable to change the assignment online. Even though I have the VS booking reference, it won't work becuase it's a Delta award ticket.

Thanks to all of those who posted seat ratings on this site. I'll do the same for 7K when my trip is complete.

The great new photo tour here on VF includes a picture of seats 6A and 6K. IF ONLY it had been up a couple of weeks ago! The VS agent assured me that those seats' footrests do not touch (he also assured me that the upper deck on SFO-LHR is a sleep zone).

"Sir, regarding row six, please look at this picture on VF"!
