I've just been on the VS website to reserve some seats for a couple of flights to MCO.

One in May and the other for Dec. Both show seating plans for a 742... anyone know if this is correct? and if so which specific aircraft will be on the route?

Not a happy bunny with a 742[V][V]

Alan

The only other thing I can think of is that they are leasing from Air Atlanta whilst the 744 go in for refit!!

However, my flight for next month is showing as a 742!

I guess its just something that we all need to be aware of over the next year. With such a small fleet, VA will be pulling planes out for the refit and that may affect our travel.

I have 2 upcoming PE flights, one from LHR and otherfrom LGW, i have reserved seats and all so i really hope that we dont have a change of aircraft too.

Im sorry about the 747-200, but maybe its an error and you will be lucky?

I spoke to FC and the nice (aren't they always??) lady could not understand why itv was showing as a 742 as her system showed 744, so she was going to check, but she was saying they are hoping to get all 744's upgraded to UCS by the end os summer!

I also contacted VS yesterday on this one as I needed to pre-book seats for the rest of the family.

The nice lady at Virgin could not understand why the LGWMCO was showing as a 742 and said it was a definite error and it will certainly be a 744. She said they will get the website looked into.

There is nothing new about this "error".

When I changed my UC seat assignment the day before my flight to MCO on 25 March, it showed the 742 configuration - this meant I was unable to do anything about my PE return.

I had similar problems when I booked my flight to Boston for this summer. Expedia showed a 747-400 and VS website showed a leased 747-200 (they even had a note up to say its a leased air atlanta with virgin livery/service etc). They also said the flight was from LGW to BOS!!!!

My email to Virgin....

quote:When going to book a flight from LHR to BOS. I get the following message:

**************************
Please note that flights between London Gatwick / Boston and vice versa, are subject to government approval. These flights will be operated by Boeing 747-200 aircraft leased by Virgin Atlantic from Air Atlanta. However, you can expect the same high level of service as our regular operated flights, including full Virgin Atlantic livery, our own crew and award winning entertainment.

Virgin do not fly from Gatwick to Boston. Is it true though about the 747-200 flying this route?

Thanks

Virgins reply....

quote:Dear Jonathan

Thank you for your email.

I have checked our website and the message that you quote is being displayed online. This message is incorrect and I have reported this to our website team. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Virgin Atlantic Airways are not looking to operate a service to Boston from London Gatwick and nor are our flights to be operated by an Air Atlanta Boeing 747-200 aircraft. We already have one service from London Heathrow to Boston, the VS 11. We are in the process of introducing a second service, the VS 53, also from London Heathrow to Boston.

I am sorry for the incorrect information that has been given online. If you wish to make a reservation, please do so online or call our Contact Centre where any of our advisors will be happy to assist.
