I know you have to have flown 3 times and when i fly to antigua for a holiday on the 30th june it will be the 3rd time ive flown with virgin and id like to join the club for future use, the problem is two of the flights ive taken it might be hard for me to get details of, as one was when i was 10 years old flying to orlando for a family holiday back in 95 and one was arranged via my college and was a trip to new york for our year and that was back a few years ago now, since neither of these flights were arranged by me it might be hard for me to get details of them if requested what details would i be needing exactly?

The three flights in 12 months to earn miles condition was ditched several years ago - I think it was at or about the time Freeway was rebranded as Flying Club and the three tiers of membership were introduced.

I stand to be corrected on the timing, but you have been able to earn points with every flight in certain classes for a long time now.

Beware though, no points are earned for certain classes of travel- N and X class I believe.

Close Nick, close! :)

N's never earn miles, X's will as long as its not a MilesPlusMoney fare (MpM)

The rebranding was done around Spring 1999. I think the 3 flight rule was dropped a little later, as I had to do a premium sector in June 99 to get my mileage.

The three tiers have been there for some time, as far as I know they were not introduced as part of the Spring 99 revamp - I can go and check as I have all my documentation in my office - somewhere...

The confusion can come in regards to the Frequent Virgin's club which is completely separate to the Flying Club, it is Virgin Holidays loyalty scheme - that still requires you to be taking or have been on your 3rd holiday with them.

So as a summary -
Virgin Atlantic Flying Club - Free to join without taking any flights: - http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/enrol1.v ... ks.view.do

Virgin Holidays Frequent Virgin Club - Require to be taking your 3rd or been on 3 Virgin Holidays trips: http://www.virginholidays.co.uk/frequen ... pply.shtml

Let me know if this makes sense!

Thanks,
Richard
