Has anyone here seen the online brochure thing Boeing have on the 747?

http://www.newairplane.com/747e-brochure

It talks about the 747 being an icon etc and all the benefits of the plane.

Alot of the icon stuff is very true.... ;)

They also take the opportunity to directly challenge the A380....

Looks like they must be feeling the pinch over falling orders of the 747 because of the A380.

True.

Though it does get you feeling all sentimental/nostalgic about the 747... ;)

The 747 Advanced sounds cool. I wonder if VS (after getting delivery of it's A380 fleet) will replace the rest of it's 744s with 747 Advanced aircraft...

Also, I wonder how many 7E7 Dreamliners VS may get...

Particulary like the maps that compare the number of airports that can handle the 747 and the 380.

For me the 747 is still more iconic, although ~I do want to fly in the airbus. Just after its been airborne for a few flights, just don't believe something SO big will actually get off the ground!!!

Did anybody just watch that documentry on the 747 on Discovery Wings. I've just had an hour of geeky hog heaven. It was a feast of old cabin and fuselage design, particulary from Virgin!

It all seems so primitave and grim compared to what its like now!

Yep! I just watched the last 30 minutes or so. I just happened to chance on it.

Don't write the 747 off just yet. Decades ago, many thought the Concorde and other supersonic craft would bury it. It didn't turn out that way.
