As suggested by one of our number, the question before the congregation is what do we all think of the VS Upper Class Suite ads?

For those that haven't seen them yet, they feature a range of (er, how do I put this charitably?) 'weathered' travellers bedding down for the night in their Suites, then all waking up looking like supermodels. The punchline is Alice Cooper being collected by his chauffeur and looking like someone off the front cover of GQ.

Judging from postings on this forum, there seems to have been quite a few in the advert breaks of 'car focussed' programmes, perhaps to tie in with VS's attendence at the Motor Show. I saw one during the ad break of that earthquake thing on Channel 4 on Saturday. The ad was far superior to the programme.

Well honey lamb ... at least you have a chance to see UK channels :D

Those of us here in the USA haven't seen any of the VS ads .. at least not in the San Francisco area.

My coverage of the F1 races (on satellite "Speed Channel") hasn't had any of the VS ads either.

I have the video saved in mpeg format (sad me [:p]) - it's quite a big file (I'm not very good at editing these things!)

If anyone want's me to e-mail it to them, so they can host it for others (again I'm not good at computers!), then please send me a private message with details.

Saw it during the European F1. My first impression was nothing special, just a load of pretty people looking happy!

I must be watching the wrong programmes, I have not seen it yet (wrong demographic??)

They should put it on during the BTCC, much more interesting than F1 :D:D:D:D

The shorter one has just been on an ad break during Hell's Kitchen - ITV1 :)

I prefer the way the VS ad actually gives you a good idea of what the product is like - they are obviously proud of it.

The BA ad shows virtually nothing of the cabin - it's far too brief to make any sense of. But they do rely on that same old music, which must trigger a response in a lot of people - "ahhh...British Airways...". It's more about brand building than selling a particular product.

In truth, they are both quite stylish adverts.

Is it confined to certain ITV areas? I access HTV and have not seen it yet although the Grand Prix was on in our house

Have not seen the BA one yet. I must admit I do love the old BA adverts.

I dunno - I get Meridien here. I guess it could be, as I remember when I worked for Daewoo Cars, our ads were different timings by region

Seen it a few times, and I've got mixed feelings.

Certainly hits the brand profile, young and affluent, but I do think the suites look quite small, and very close together. Doesn't show the seat/bed transformation which is what sets the suite apart from other flat beds.

I think BA are clever in their ads, the use of a proper bed in different locations just conveys the idea, "Fly BA and you'll get a good night's sleep in a proper bed". If your target is business travellers that is what they want.

I'm not joking, but I've seen the UCS ad 4 or 5 times in an evening. Although I think its great, I just can't get away from it at the moment.

Still makes me smile everytime I see it though

I know what you mean ajp, but it's a great ad. I must admit to finding the music quite catchy, apparently, for anyone who is interested, it was written by David Arnold (of James Bond music fame) specifically for the advert as is not available commercially.
