Absolutely bloody fantastic. In fact the whole event was mind-blowingly good.

I've uploaded a selection of the pictures I took, and some of those will give you a sense of the day.

Some of the big highlights (for me at least) were the fly past of Maiden Toulouse and the journey over itself in the Ribs - and no, I didn't lose my breakfast either :). Virgin's hospitality was stunning - and I don't think I spoke to anybody who didn't think the whole thing was probably about the best event they've ever been on.

The pictures give a real flavour of what looks like an excellent day out - thanks (now, where's that green with envy icon? :D)

Cheers

Pix, what exactly do you mean by the message accompanying my photo - "hairy at times, but definitely an unmissable experience". I confess I've never been described that way before, but then again I can't say I've ever sat that close to anyone while bouncing across the Channel[:I]

By the way, did you know the photos are all listed back to front? (obviously you'll change this by the time anyone reads this comment!)

Er, that's probably because it shows the newest uploads first and I uploaded in the order they came out of the camera (which then reversed them)

As a nugget of useless trivia, the aircraft that did the fly-past of the event in Dover (G-VAEL, Maiden Toulouse) appeared to have been given the special flight number VS801. The same aircraft flew out to Port Harcourt later that day as VS623.

I noticed in one of the photos that you said "Maiden Toulouse" did an aerobatic display - what moves did she pull? :)

The sort of thing you'd see at Farnborough. She came in low over the flotilla, did a couple of figure 8s (with some very impressive banking) and then pulled up in a high climb. The co-pilot must have been having fun, since the landing gear was being deployed and retracted as she flew over like she was flashing her toes.

That part of the day came as a bit of a surprise - the first most people knew about it was a very low-flying Virgin Atlantic aircraft. Fantastic.

That sounds brilliant - now I just need a double "green with envy" icon :D

Triple Green here Michael...

and Pix, when referring to Rob shouldn't it be "...hairy in places" [:I] not "...hairy at times" [:o)]

Hmmm... now that conjures up even stranger images. I also wonder where these hairy places are - now that you've met me I feel worried!
