Dithering about SFO

Hello

Just need you to tell me its a good idea. Seen a good deal to San Francisco in September for 5 nights for 600 punds pp inc VS flight(only economy afraid) in the Marriott. Know its a good hotel and has a fab bar but I'm going to HKG in PE the following month and been on VS twice this year already. Can probably afford so should I? Am I being too extravagent?

Would get me to silver and really help towards my 80k rewrd miles...

Anyone know what Priority Pass lounges are like at SFO, please tell me they're better than at JFK!

Hi,

Not sure about the PP lounges in the International terminal( maybe a NW lounge for NW/KLM?) but I think there are three in Terminal 1 before security ( Continental, NorthWest, Delta) accessible by a coonecting hall from the Intl Terminal (5min walk).

The CO Presidents club is quite good with fruit , bar served drinks ( free ) and a few snacks

I used a PP lounge at SFO last year. Can't for the life of me remember who's in was, but it was the only one in the termional VS uses. It was OK - confortable, quiet, not smokey, plenty of drinks, snacks - but nothing special.

As it happens, I'm typing this from the Virgin Clubhouse at SFO ...

I can't speak for the other available lounges with PP ... but if there is anyway you can just make that trip Upper Class ... you will NOT regret the expense.

Compaired to any airline clubhouse/lounge I've ever been in here at my "home airport" of SFO .. Virgin beats them ALL!!

If you get in here .. be sure and say hello to Claire at the Club's front desk.

There really is no way we can afford UC in September, saving that for next year. Will have to make do with economy which even seems depressing after doing PE. Still thinking of the miles and TP and the excuse to see SF again!

Really couldn't afford anything but EC on this flight, but 600 for Vs and 5 nights in the Marriott ain't bad me thinks.

I always have a great time in SF. Everytime time I go I always forget just how danm pretty it is.

Although did have a dream last night that I was spending too much money on Virgin Flights. Bought an UC ticket on VS3 to New York, but missed it and they were going to off me a flight there via HKG!! Madness!

I'll put a date in the diary thing, even though this we time we are doing humble EC..

Dean, there are two PPass lounges in the International Term, Northwest Worldclub and United Red Carpet Club and three in T1. Not Clubhouse standard but better than nothing.

If you have time try the Hyatt at the eastern end of Fisherman's Wharf, it has a revolving restaurant on the top with some magnificent views and they do a great brunch on Sundays, did have Jazz too although the last time we were there they were broadcasting a live Jazz program from the restaurant, no band that day but some great music. Reservations are required.

Don't forget that there's so much more to see just outside SF - especially nipping up to the North Bay and Napa Valley

Yeah we drove out to Marin County last time, was beautiful. Think were going to be city bound this time though. Going again next year hopefully for a bit of a nice drive down to Monterray and up back through the Napa Valley and hope to stop of at the French Laundry. Voted the worlds best restaurant two years in a row. That'll mean I've then done the top two

Can thoroughly recommend Monterey. I had a few days there last October. It's a beautiful part of the world.
