Agreed, Bazz, that's some target to be aiming for! Over twice the mileage compared to a SFO trip which by itself provides plenty of UCS, Clubhouse and Revivals pleasure:). It's going to be very difficult to refrain from cashing them in once I reach 80k. Can't see myself holding out for 180k.

If so, any idea on the actual miles earned yet?

I too dont think i will stand too much of a chance saving that! Too easy to get to 60k and think about the upgrade to UC from Y (while bagging more miles and tier points)

Nonetheless, this new route is very exciting!

I can kind of understand why the redemption levels have been set at that, but for me the value is not great.

Like its been said, you can get 2 UC returns to USA for that, and they have more £ value than LON-SYD.

I suppose 180k had to be expected as the reward level after all its 100k to HGK then another 8 hours to SYD so thats a USA flight 80k.I think if I was considering miles for this route I would save an extra 40k and go SIA first class.

That doesnt sound like much does it? I thought it would be more than that. So its about 22k for a round trip in Y, which sounds better. For some reason i thought it would be more than that. I usually fly PE so for me it would be 31,665, so yes, that is quite good actually!

Darent think about the free flight in Y after one UC trip to SYD!! hehe

I have just received my gold renewal pack and this contains a new rewards guide. I was surprised to see that the miles needed for a europe - Australia flight on Singapore (Raffles) remains at 150,000. UC, at 180,000 LHR - SYD, does seem rather a lot in comparison; perhaps having suites is worth the extra 15,000 each way....

GO, are there any major changes in the new renewal guide?

I am sure that when SYD commemces they will have to change the miles, because as it stands you will get a free Y flight with every UC SYD flight wont you? (the miles earned being over 40k) Thats fine with me but i think that VS might not be so keen to have that one!

The doc addresses earning and spending in what seems a lot more detail, associated with partner airlines and other companies, than the guide issued a few years back. Bed-time reading is required to absorb it all....

The gold renewal came with upgrade vouchers for the trains to both LHR and LGW. Oldie is pleased to remain golden for another year .

Congrats GO! A dual celebration this week chez Decker as I got my renewal and Mrs D got her first Au card. We're now awash in train upgrades (never used any of last years) and have to think of a use for the companion ticket...

Why thanks Decker! Congrats to you too and Mrs D. I have already booked my companion ticket for SFO next Easter.

If I have understood the tier point system, I have enough flights booked in my next membership 'year' to remain AU until Sept 06 and I might do some business travel as well if this does not interfere with my holidays.....[8D]

I won't need to re-register as Silveroldie for a while yet!
