we are traveling on the A340 - 600 and i have booked seat 65 at the far back of the plane - window and aisle

Is this seat the same as the 747 where you get the extra space at the side by the window?

Also how easy is it to get the bulk head seats if i checked in early?? do you pay extra form them (like the fire exit ones)

thanks for all your help

not sure bout the bulkhead seats but the Aves the tapering fusalge problem by removing one seat from the centre group so that the last few rows have three seats in the centre rather than the four seats for the other rows. The net effects are:-

1) no Extra room fro A or K seats.
2) the monitors for the centre section seats are not straight ahead but off to one side.
3) there is a 'dog leg' in the aisle at the back.

Hope this helps.

I would try for row 33acdefghk as this is an exit row and will give you plently of legroom and more space.

row 65 is the last row with no extra legroom, or side space and behind you is the toilets.

If you have never flown on the -600 before you will find the toilet flush extremly LOUD and quite scary!!!! and on a 7 or 8 hour flight will be quite annoying.

SO try to get row 33 for that bit of extra space.

Good Luck!!:)

Thank you for that

I thought that was the case for the air-bus that you did not get the extra space at the side on the last 4 rows.

I looked on the seat guide on this website the describtion is wrong as it says there is extra space for the airbus 600 maybe someone could change it as this is the decription for the 747

We are going to have a go at getting the bulk seats although not the exit ones as half the door comes out into the seat nearest the window

I really don't like the airbuses they creak and there are no "nice seats" in economy. At least with the 747 you have some decent seats at the far back, better exit seats and the plane feels more stable in the air (sorry if this upsets anyone).

thank you

On the 747 the door bustle will intrude on our LEG SPACE if your in the A or K seat, not so on the Airbus.

The door busttle is lower and further away from the seat so actually makes as a nice low leg rest!!!!

If your seated in the over wing exit row 33 the slide is in the side of the aircraft not the door so leg room not affected!!!!

IN fact row 33 is the best. with the bulkheads you will find that you will get more KNEE room but not really leg room.

On many of the skycot positions when a passenger has a sky cot fitted they cannot watch a movie cos the wall is too close to the seat!!!

Row 33 is the best row!!! or row 53 DEFG is a bulkhead row which offers more legroom than the sky cot positions at row 31defg and 32ac and 32hk hope that makes sense!!

Hi Declan

Im confused... sorry to question but we are going to be on this baby for 24 hours (48 in total there and back) and would like to get reasonable seats!!

Looking at the seat map for the Airbus 600 there are are no bulk head seats at 53 (did you mean 52) and is row 51 the one with the horrible fire exit door bits that come out into your seat.

What is the difference between 32 ac and hk (is that bulkhead) and 33 ac defg hk they both look like they have large gaps in front of them is that for the fire exit ?

and row 45 defg what are these? they look like bulk head (why here)

thank you for all your help and lots of questions...

Do you know if these planes have the V port.. hope so for that journey.. Just thinking while im on the journey i could check every seat out and make a report - I do have 48 hours to use up (give me something to do)!! lol

ALSO

with any luck there will not be any babies on this flight - who would take one on a 11 hour or 24 hour flight! i know it happens (i could'nt)so there may be bulk head avaiable

Exit rows will cost £50 each

ROW 51A and 51k are exit seats but the escape slide will be away from your legs so you will have legroom unlike on the 747 where the legroom is taken by the slide.

The door bustle (escape slide) can be used to rest your legs on if your stretch out because it quite low compared to the 747.

ALL of ROW33 is at the overwing exit so will have lots of legroom these are the best seats!!!

Rows 31, 32, 45 and 52 are bulkheads and reserved mainly for passengers with babies, however some bulkhead seats offer more legroom. For example the bulkhead at Rows 45 and 52 have more leg room than rows 31 and 32!!

45 is a bulkhead the crew rest area is located beneath here thats why there is a bulkhead there too.

My advice is try for rows 51, 52, 45 or 33!

On a related note - which economy seats do you think are best in the A343?

I was going to try and get either row 41 (bulkhead) or 50 (exit).

Thanks
