Hi
My parents want to go to Barbados this coming Jan 05.
They have several questions and hoped someone on here could help with answers!
a)Are the LGW flights to Barbados all going to have suites by this point?
b)Will the suites be located upstairs and downstairs? My dad is quite frail and likes the quiet of the bubble upstairs?
c)Is there any plan for these flights to go into LHR as they live close-by?
d)Finally, can anyone suggest a quick non-virgin route back from Barbados using a day flight on the return leg? e.g. Barbados/Miami/LHR? My dad just prefers day flights given age etc..

best and many thanks for your great site!

Hi josepg10;

In answer to your questions;

(a) Bit of a lottery as maybe 2 or 3 of the five(?) LGW fleet will have suites by end of 2004 ( current plan)

(b) Just in the nose section is the current plan.

(c) doubtful that they will fly to LHR

(d) I think the only airports with daylight flights to LHR are IAD/BOS/NYC ( some are VS) and ORD. I do not think MIA has a daylight flight.

Regards

Hi

a) Time will tell, it was originally planned that LGW planes would have UCS by Summer 2005 - but they really are turning around the planes quite quickly for the refits so you never know. Remember that nothing is guaranteed as operational changes have to be made.

b) The plans that I saw had UCS downsatairs only, as the number of J seats is reducing to just 14. All of upstairs (in the 'bubble' will be Premium Economy. But this may be more suitable, as the stairs upstairs could be a bit of an issue for a elderly person, hence the note that is dispalyed on the reservation system when booking Premium/Upper.

c) No, BGI is a Bucket and Spade route and will be served out of LGW for the foreseeable future.

d) I think the MIA route would serve you best, but are you talking of flying out VS and back with another carrier? If so, this will be booked as two one-way's so will be more expensive. I've just looked and even though there is an early morning connecting flight from BGI to MIA, there is no decent direct flight until around 5pm which still takes him overnight. My advice, would be to just take the direct flight back with VS: it will work out cheaper, he won't have the hassle of having to change flights, and the VS are more than capable of making sure he is okay and has a wonderful flight overnight.

If you need anymore help, just ask!

Thanks,
Richard
