All of the A346 refits should be completed by the end of September.

G-VOGE went out of service briefly following the Washington incident which slowed things down a little.

There are only two things in life that are definate - death and taxes ;)

Hello all

Question:-

If Virgin are now moving over to Airbus - is it really that likely that they are going to put UCS in the LGW 747's?

They are doing both the 747 LGW and 346 at the same time.
The LGW 747 should be going in late Aug/early sept so i'm told by FC.

whoa!! Virgin are not going over to airbus, they're staying half boeing, half airbus (as long of your defination of half and half is 13:30) 7 of the boeing are less than 2 years old, 3 were delivered around 1997 and the other three were delivered earlier. There is no way that virgin are getting rid of the 747s.

I'm sure there are no plans to get rid of Boeings in the short term. But the balance has certainly been tipped in favour of Airbus. I'm sure it make great economic sense to run a single manufacturer fleet - with the savings in parts/engineering/crew training/pilot flexibility etc. And I'm pretty sure that I read somehere that the BA boss wants to move to a single maufacturer.

if you have a mixed fleet, you can play one manufacturer off against the other to get a lower price.

as for mr eddrington, he's retired - apparently.

Hi,

In PE I prefer the 747-400 over the a340-300.

In Upper the 747 is good, I do not mind the A340-300, have not travelled on the A340-600.

In Y, the A340 only has 2 seats at the side so easier for the window pax to get out.

I can't wait for the A380:D

747 will be aorund for a while yet , the 5 LGW based 744 were only delivered from 2001!!!1

The 747 are vital to carry the extra capacity and to make more money.

The LGW routes are nearly always full, so they will be adding seats not taking them away by replacing them with smaller aircraft.
