Has anyone recieved their tickets yet and if so how where they delivered - recorded / registered / special? - postage paid? handwritten envelope / size etc.

The postman just appeared at our door with an unpaid special delivery (handwritten medium sized envelope with no markings) item which required payment of £4.75. Not knowing what it was we decided not to pay and sent it back and then thought about what it might have been - party came to mind. Maybe postage was screwed up - but why post special?

Someone else in the office who is going has a postcard to pick up a special delivery item which adds fuel to argument.

Probably was not them but would like to rule out.

Thanks all.

Thanks for the input - I'll assume that it was not them and keep scratching my head as to who sent me something unpaid - sounds like a new junk mail scam to me [:(]

As a follow up to this....

Still not recieved tickets today so called Virgin Events.

Apparently it looks likely that the special delivery envelope that we refused delivery of was indeed the tickets.

There was a mix up (Virgin claim with the Post Office) that resulted in some tickets being incorrectly sent and charges being imposed to the customer.

Virgin have said that any charges will be reimbursed and are chasing up my tickets. Will keep the Forum informed of any developments.

Very strange - not sure why Special Delivery is used (recorded - yes, registered - maybe) - all it gives you is guaranteed next day delivery (which might be useful baring in mind todays news) - but it is horrendously expensive and would cost VA a fortune to send them all out this way.

I got the impression from my phone conversation that the letter had wrongly been classed as SD rather than RD and therefore the postage attached was insufficient.

Ours was Special Delivery too - of course I had them sent to my OLD offices (just moved) which caused a moment of panic 'til we called and found they were still there...

Further update.

Virgin Events left a message to say they were posting them standard 1st class "as I requested" - of course what I really requested was that they simply pay the appropriate postage so that they are not sent back.

Anyway hopefully the Post Office will get them to me in time for next years party. :)
