Hi All

Im a Virgin flyer with Virgin and wonder if i could know which plane i was getting. On the 3rd i am Flying out to New York on VS045 from LHR and back again on Tuesday Evening on VS046 on the 7th. I think its a Jumbo but i am not sure which! Hope someone can help!

Also is the online check in worth it?

Regards

Danny

Hi Danny,
Welcome to V-flyer!

VS staff no longer give out specific plane details due to security implications.
See the second post on this thread.

To answer your second question I'd need a few more pointers ie what class your traveling in.
Generally speaking DIY check in is useful if your in Economy but not so useful if your in PE or Upper (as you already have dedicated check in facilities at the airport)

Hi

Cheers for the reply, thats a shame i wondered why they had all stopped! LOL

We are in Eco class and take off is 9:30, i live like 3 hours from LHR so will be an early start. Didn't know if it was worth checking in before i leave at around 2-3am

Cheers for the info

You have nothing to lose by checking online 24hours before your flight so why not give it a go, when you go to check in you will be able to go straight to the DIY bag drop desk next to the PE check in desks.

You will be be able to bypass all the lines at Y, PE and J if there are any.

Just try online check in , there really is no reason not too, is there???

The VS45/46 are currently booked for UCS-fitted 747-400s. There's only 8 of those, and they fall into two flavours, dependant on IFE type.

Now that all the Arcadia-fitted 744s have been refurbished, you'll either get the Odyessy or V:Port IFE.

The former is a good multi-channel system with Nintendo games, the latter is an audio/video on demand system with more movies and music than you can shake a stick at and one of the biggest personal TVs in the sky.

The V:Port aircraft have a different design of seat in Economy and Premium Economy, to be able to accomodate the larger video screens. The UCS is pretty much the same on all of them.

I personally prefer the older PE seats on the 744 to the new ones, which I think are a bit plasticky and less cushy.

I don't think that there's much to choose from on the Economy seats, although some people have said that the new seat feels narrower.

There are slightly more V:Port aircraft nowadays, 5 vs 3.

Cheers,
Mike
