Greetings all...

In 10 days I will have the pleasure of spending 6 hours at the LHR Clubhouse. I'll be landing at T1 in the morning and estimate I'll transfer and check-in by 10:30/11:00 for a 6pm flight to JNB.

Now I know the Clubhouse is great, but I've never had so much time to kill. Does anyone have any tips? I have a haircut booked for 2pm, but would I be able to get a second treatment while I'm there (assuming they are not busy) or are they really strict with the 1 treatment rule?

As for the multiscreen, does it show anything entertaining?

Many thanks,

Make sure that you arrive with an empty stomach so that you can eat your way through the CH menu while washing it down with cocktails or champagne, if you like a tipple[:D] I normally head for the dining area first and spend an hour or so there, if it's not too busy. I then grab some papers and find a comfy pew and catch up with the latest news. Doing that is a real luxury for me, so I think I'm probably quite lazy in regard to getting the most out of the facilities offered.
I also like to go up to the rooftop garden for some aviation jet fuel inhalation, but it was closed during my last visit[n] There's also a pool table and off course the jacuzzi, which several v-flyer members have availed themselves of.

Enjoy yourself there and have a great flight[:D]

I think I must have spent about 8 hours in the LHR clubhouse following G-VROC going tech on me, a couple of years ago. Worst bit was that only Phase One was open, meaning it was rather crowded.

I ate breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea in the CH that day!

I once had this for work when I had a connection from JFK to LHR to HKG. I had 5 hours to waste. I arrived at 11am and my flight was due at 4pm:-
-11:00am arrive grab a coffeel and read the newspaper.
-11:30am play a game of pool with my collegue
-12:30pm grab a nice meal in the restaurant (clubhouse burger)
-13:30pm style and trim at bumble and bumble
-14:30pm get a fruity cocktail and watch the multiscreen
-15:30pm get another coffee and a snack and head to my gate.

Hope this helps.

Cocktails or champagne?! Why so choosy, MrsG?

I thought spending 5 hours in a VS CH was the norm?

Yep, I never plan to spend less than 5 hrs if I can help it [:D]

Unfortunately if you are flying to Miami then its a struggle to get very long at all as the flight departs around 9.30 so we are usually waiting for the CH to open[:#] However have managed breakfast and a little chillin time but then its always worth a quick potter around Chanel - you never know what exclusives they may have and that eats in CH time as well!
