Just received an email from FC inviting me to join HHonors as a gold VIP member. I dont usually use Hilton but I may start now!!!

All I have to do is activate my new gold HHonors account then stay at least once at any Hilton before 28 Feb 2005. Then for each stay I'll earn the following:

First stay 1,000 FC miles plus 1,000 HHonors bonus points
Second stay 2,000 FC miles plus 2,000 HHonors bonus points
Third stay 3,000 FC miles plus 3,000 HHonors bonus points
Fourth stay 4,000 FC miles plus 4,000 HHonors bonus points

Seems like a reasonable deal to me!!!

I haven't received an invite, same boat as TBS.

My friend who is silver recieved it though - looks like a good deal. I remember about five years ago us been offered HHonors Silver VIP and we thought that was tempting, you people have never had it so good... :)

Thanks,
Richard

Not got an email about that.... Dropped back to HH blue last year and got Platinum InterContinental instead.

Would it be selective? Got a few Hilton stays coming up as it happens so this would be VERY handy!! Who do I ring???

Just to add to what James had posted from the email.

Already a Hilton HHonors member?
Please continue to use your existing HHonors account and just ring the Hilton HHonors Customer Service Centre on 00800 4446 6677 and they will adjust your account to qualify for this special offer. In fact, if you have any queries at all, you can contact Hilton HHonors using this number.

We look forward to giving you a Gold VIP welcome very soon.

Hmm... Just spoke to them. They say it's a "targeted" promotion and if I'm not on the marketing list then I won't get it!

Damn.

Yep. Got my email and joined up straight away. Will use Hilton Family Hotels for our trip to LAX next February half term (booked with the special offer in the Daily Mail last month). Will most likely need 4 hotels during the week, so will qualify for the full 10k FC miles.
Good marketing, Hilton.

Still no email, but been home for lunch today and found a Flying Club envelope pushed through the letterbox.....got a nice new HH Gold VIP card along with a letter with the offer stuff. Think the offer is the same as James received, but I didn't check that hard - too distracted by the gold shiny thing ;):D[^]

If this is a targetted promotion, I would love to know how they choose their targets.

My 15 year old son, who has recently been relegated (very harshly IMHO [:(!] ) from FC Silver to FC Red, is now the proud owner of his own HH gold card, received in the mail this morning [}:)]

Mrs Nick and I, who are both silver and I used to be HH gold, have both been ignored. [:I]

Serious question - would there be a problem in us booking a family room then paying with my VS card but presenting his HH and FC cards for the 'double dip' points they say he is entitled to?

For those with American Express charge cards your membership points translate 1 Membership Point = 2 HHonor points.

I'm splitting points from my Amex to both FC and Hilton HHonors, and with the HHonors Gold Card firmly in my wallet i'll be well on my way! :)

With perfect timing, a HHonors Gold card came through my letterbox this morning.

I'm having my first stay at a Hilton this Saturday (Millenium, NY).

Here's hoping for a room upgrade, and looking forward to extra 25% points, and bonus miles :-)

Let us know how you get on Jules - I've found the upgrades few and far between and you seem to explicitly have to request them. I make a point of having Amex print it on the booking fax now... at one Hilton (Woodcliff Lake, NJ) we've stayed about 5 times and had one upgrade.

In fairness though we normally stay 5 nights or so and the room has to be free for that entire time for them to be able to upgrade you to it, so single night stays probably stand more chance perversely.

Sure will do - actually I'm staying 4 nights, and had already considered the inverse liklihood upgrade over time. :(

Point noted about having to ask, thanks.

Still - extra points all add up and are most welcome :)
