Will soon be traveling MIA-LHR with a friend in UC. Been trying to figure our the best seats for 2 travling together. Is 6A & 6K a good pair of seats? Been seeing mixed reviews. Had 7A & 7K but switched to row 6 (friend loves the nose cone). Any suggestions? Many thanks.

I think they are pretty good. It does feel a little cramped in the nose, and you don't get an overhead bin (nearest is row 8) but on the positive side:

You can speak to the other person in row 6 without having to shout too much
You have an extra storage shelf in front of you
You have a fair amount of privacy
You get the best view from the plane due to the curvature of the side
You get served first

Hi Jim, BC swears by these two for him and the kitten, Mrs Bazz had 6K back from JFK on 10th Oct. I was in 9A, she said she liked it and would be happy for us to travel in 6A&K on another trip.

You may also consider the 15 to 18 D&G seats, these are in the B zone and three 744's (so far) have had the central divider made removable so couples can share the suite experience rather better than before, only problem is that you won't know for definite if you have one of these three until check-in. See this thread for more details.

Wolves27 and I recently flew back from SFO in 6A/K. We read the seat reviews (which reminds me i need to add one) and the general feedback is rather bad. However I would agree with BlackCat on all his comments.

The only thing is that they are a little more cramped - you can't really stand by your seat and there is no locker directly over head. But Zone A is so spacious just two steps away and you have plenty of room to stand and stretch. We found that they were nice for chatting to each other.

And there is something quite cool about sitting in the very front row, technically infront of the Pilot.

I love these boards! Thanks everyone for the kind advice. I think the pros outweigh the cons and we'll still with 6AK. With a flatbed seat awaiting me, I don't envision wanting to stand around all that much, and can also make do with walking a few steps backward for the overhead bin. The "front row" thing is also rather alluring (as well as being able to have a normal conversation with my partner without shouting). Flew LH in the nose in July--it was amazingly quiet! Looking forward to that (and some good sleep in the UCS) in 2 weeks. Thanks again.
