Hi

I understand that the first plane from LGW is due back from refit today. Can anyone confirm if this is the case or not and when will it go back into service??? Obviously we need some pictures ASAP.

Regards

Jason

I can confirm that the first UCS LGW aircraft is still in Dublin having the UCS installed and the reconfiguration of a cabin.
The reconfiguration will take the total seat count to 451. 14J/58W/379Y. UCS will just be in the nose of A Zone and WILL have a bar unit although there are no plans to install an IFBT area.

Where previously we had 2 rows of J seats in B Zone we now are having 2 rows of Premium Economy. Having been on the aircraft the 2 rows of W look fantastic. There were only 5 UCS suites installed yesterday in Dublin but it should catch up quickly.

The aircraft G-VROS is actually due back at the weekend to operate the VS27 (LGW-MCO) on Sunday. This date is subject to confirmation.

I hope this helps.

Only one picture uploaded due to the size of the other pictures. What a shame, I had a brilliant picture of the new LGW UCE Bar Unit.

Me? I only have/attend sedate dinner parties where everybody quietly discusses topical issues in a civil manner and sips fine wine & port ;):D

Back OT - I'm not too sure about the bar area being in the middle of the UC cabin - wonder what the disturbance will be from that? Think I'd probably have preferred an IFBT area instead....

Cheers

Hi,

You will just have to make sure you get row 6 or 7, then you can drink at the bar, then go and sleep in an alcoholic coma in your suite as far as possible from the bar.

I know what you mean about it being in the middle of the cabin. Looking at the pics it only has two stools, so I wonder if the idea is to use it more as a nice walk up and get a drink area for those who want to. Not so much as an actual bar area as in the larger cabins.

That's just it though - 6 & 7 aren't that far away from the bar. I took this pic from just in front of the IFBT area on an LHR 744. Now, IIRC, the bar area on the LGW 744 is where the IFBT would be on the LHR 744 - so there's not as much space for noise dissipation. Though that said, Foz is probably right - it's probably not intended for a long sit at the bar ;)

Cheers

Wow, these are great pictures - real inside info! Thanks bobingalong.

stephen - you've beaten me by two weeks!

We're booked into 6K+7K outbound and 7A+8A inbound - but as mcuth points out, you'll never be that far from the bar wherever you're sat. I'll just have to make sure it's me making the noise at the bar rather than the one suffering it...:D
