I know Virgin holidays have introduced a new v room does anyone have the answer to two questions

1 can you book the v room at gatwick if you are flying with virgin not going with virgin holidays?
2 can you use airmiles to pay for this if you can?

Hi Paula,

If you look at the T&C's on the bottom of this page from the Virgin Holidays website it states that the VRoom is only for use of Virgin Holiday customers, so unfortunately it looks like a no. It could always be worth a try ringing them and asking though, but even if you got lucky I am pretty certain you wouldn't be able to pay using your VS miles.

There is the option of buying access to the VS Clubhouse when you check in. My parents paid £25 per person to get in but I do believe the going rate is £60 per person (Somebody will correct me).

There is this option as well. [:w]

LGW= £35 per person
LHR=£60 per person

Condition is that you must have booked your holiday through VH and you must be flying VS.

So really not an option for the OP.

Ah but my parents were offered the option when they checked in at the VS desk and they were asked to pay £25 each for the privilage. They had not booked through VH, just had VS flights.

As for the other option unless the loophole has been tighten up, it appeared that it was a common occurance to do it. As in the thread that I've linked to in my first post, I questioned it.

Interesting are you sure it was £25? Are you talking about LGW? Seems a bit off of VS to charge VH people £35 and others £25.

When I last rung VS to ask they said the only ways in were:
- UC ticket holder
- Au card holder
- Invited by UC ticket holder/Au card holder
- £35 VH entry but must be flying with VS
(I believe you can also get in if traveling First with SQ from LHR)

Worth remembering that even with the VH £35 they ring through to the CH to check its ok. If the lounge is due to be busy they will say no.

Yeap, it was LGW and it was £25 each, They texted me with the pictures of the lovely breakfast they were having. They were asked at Check In if they would like to enter the CH and it would cost £25.

Ah! Bit of humble pie, this was Sept 2006! So apologies to everyone for the misinformation[:I][:I]

I seem to recall at around that time period and prior the LGW CH had signs at check-in inviting people to purchase access to the CH for £25 or £30 per person.

Thanks,
Sarah

Am flying UC through VH next year and have been given a free pass to the V-room, in the name of research might just have to try it for a while (although will spend majority of time in the clubhouse of course [:D]).

Does anyone know where exactly this new V-room is located?

The V Room is located where the Continental Lounge used to be. I am sure it will be signed at the airport, and the CH staff will always be able to direct you if you are struggling.

I have just spoken to VH about the Vroom, they said it is exclusive to VH customers and they limit the number of people who can use it. I booked it for our holiday in APR 09 and it must be pretty popular because the c/s agent told me there were only 3 adult and 5 child places left for booking that day.

I think its good value for money especially when you take into consideration how much a breakfast in somewhere like Garfunkles costs! Ohhh the other really good thing about it is that you get a voucher to go through fast track security, thats got to be worth the price of the entrance fee alone [y]
