I didn't think there was a fare class on VS under 'R'...
Is this new?
Is this new?
R
Originally Supersonic - now Discount Economy (not used by Virgin Atlantic)
The Cabin Class for Supersonic is R, and full fare Concorde on BA used to be ticketed in R Class, but now that Speedbird is gone so too has the R fare class. BA has cheapened it somewhat and the R fare class is now used for discounted economy!

Mysteriouser and mysteriouser ... thought I'd try to see what the VS Web site may say but for any combination of dates, on any route I get the message:
There are no available fares for your selected dates. Please search again in 'Your Search' above.
So it seems that is playing up again!

Yes, sorry guys I've been out all day visiting customers.
R is a new Upper fare class that is currently being used as Z was for revenue - Z is going to be used for the time being for MpM Upper fares and certain sale fares. Z & R will continue to earn 200% mielage flown and 5 TP per sector.
They are possibly going to change again in the future to help with making Upper rewards available for certain customers.

So R is going to become the normal lowest Upper Class fare? Which accounts for a price hike of some 30% looking at the numbers people have forwarded!
What does making Upper rewards available for certain customers mean, a two tier approach to this?
