Quick LGW CH question

I did a search on this but found nothing and the VS website seems to be fairly useless.

What times does the CH open at LGW? Am looking to maximise my time next Monday you see[:D].

Also could I please have VFers recommendations on:
1. What to eat
2. Best location to base myself in
3. Any other LGW CH info that may come in handy.

Also does LGW CH, like LHR, have the tendency to make the boarding calls massively early?

I believe it opens at 6.30am now (having always previously opened at 7am). Recent travellers can probably confirm, though it was definitely 6.30am last time we were there, and that was a weekeday.

Best location? Depends what you are after, though i find the seating areas opposite the bar a nice place to be, as you are close enough to the staff and the bar but with some privacy and room to relax.

I've usually found that they call the flight around 30-40 minutes before departure and never had to wait too long at the gate, usually they're already boarding.

As the Gatwick Clubhouse is only open until the last flight leaves (usually the VS16 to Orlando) you will find a comprehensive breakfast menu available. This ranges from the classic smoked salmon and scrambled egg through bacon / sausage rolls, up to a full cooked breakfast.

This of course is in addition to cereals, pastries and not forgetting all manner of healthy options[;)]

In terms of seating, Mrs Buns and I prefer to take one of the tables for dining then retreat to an available comfy seat.

Don't forget your treatments and a visit to the shoe shine man is a must[y]
