VS CS confirmed to me by email that the extra legroom seats are available to purchase at Twilight CI.

On a similar note I had been unfair to CS earlier in this thread, as a result of my communication with them my original request has been honoured now that the held seats have been opened up. Now that is good customer service! Email of gratitude is on it's way.

They only A/C config I have seen to does release more Y seats once OLCI opens are the A346's.

Upto ONCI opening the first 5 or 6 rows in Y are always blocked but these rows do open up at OLCI.

I was told by VA at the airport, that the first rows of y are only allocated at check in and are not available at olci as they are kept back for disabled pax and families.

Don't have a problem with this concept of making some of the Y seats bigger. I always attempt to get the seats at the back to get the preceived sense of more room.

I can see why some people are upset on this site and the other site DIBB, about their seats REQUESTS being altered but that's what they are, REQUESTS not confirmed seats. No seats are confirmed until the aircraft's door is shut and the plane is taxi-ing down to the runway.

Even then people are allowed to move around within the cabin or this one time (in band camp...) on a BA flight to ORD where my wife and I were upgraded at the gate, another couple were upgraded and sat next to us when the aircraft was in the air.

As for paying £30 for the privilage, not a problem as I'm never quick enough to get the exit seats.

I agree with the principle of offering larger seats at a higher cost.

Is there anything wrong with charging more for the most popular seats? (even if they are the same size)
How many would pay extra to get those seat pairs at the back of the 747?

Would some pay more for window seats rather than the centre block?
I always prefer the aisle seats but if the window seats are most popular on b&s routes and someone wants to pay a little more to get those seats, why not?

If the exit seats go too quickly - does that suggest that the price differential is too low?

Had 64K outbound from London to Singapore and was I glad for the extra room to stretch my legs and, given the rather large gentleman sitting next to me (who was, shall we say, of a fluid nature), also for the extra space to my right. I'd have been willing to pay a reasonable amount extra for this seat: £60/leg. But I'd want to be able to book it at when buying the ticket. Not everybody can get to the airport hours early - I specifically flew on the last flight out of LHR so I wouldn't lose a days leave.

KLM on their intercontinental flights are now offering a similar deal. for Û50 you can have extra legroom OR sit in a row with only two seats You can at least check online 30 hours before and pay for it.

Seems their frequent flyers can get them free too...

If you are a Platinum or Gold member of Flying Blue or WorldPerks, you do not have to pay for Seat Choice.

A nice touch, though I still don't really agree with it.

Interesting move, although I haven't flown in Y for a long time. I would be happy to shell out £30 for a bit more room in economy, although for some the chance of getting this would seem better than shelling out loads more for PE (even with the added benefits of PE). However does this mean that people are less likely to do on line check-in to try and 'bag' one of these seats for purchase at the desk, therefore potentially delaying the whole check-in process for those in Y at the airport?

....... and also the massive irritation when those seats have already been purchased and the only seats left are a bit rubbish!!!

We're experiencing long queues at Gatwick airport.To avoid the queues please use Twilight check-in at the South Terminal Zone A open 12 noon til 9pm the day before your flight.

Looks like VS picked a good time to bring this in ...... holiday time and all[:w]

Maybe not many are doing on line check in[}:)]

Good old VS [ii]

The problem surely is two fold, firstly not many of the a/c will have had the necessary changes made yet so no actual extra leg room seats to sell and secondly, it would be much better for VS to make a note on the website or somewhere to say that you can still *upgrade* to the extra leg room seats even if you have done OLCI, this should stop everyone just using normal check in if they want to try and get the extra leg room seats.

It's just a shame that this can't also be done for LHR flights as well.

I'm sure it would be as popular.

I was wondering about this too, but I wonder if the Airbus Y seat pitch are all uniformed so they can't do any movement to make the extra pitch for the 34' seats.
