Thanks for this info vscss.

Do you know the reasons behind these cancellations? I guess it makes sense for VS to combine these flights rather than send 2 a/c if the loads aren't great or they are struggling with a lack of available a/c.

Thanks once again, vscss [y]

I will leave this as a stand alone thread for a while, then merge it into the sticky flight changes thread.

OMG,just logged on and read this thread[:0]We are flying out to St Lucia in Y class on 21st september for a very special anniversary[:0][:0]It means that we will not get into the resort(Sandals Regency) now before 5pmish instead of 3pmish[ii]

They allow the layover to be 2 hours,is this realistic to offload luggage?I have done Gatwick to Barbados in 7 and half hours before[:)]Thanks for any advice[:)]

Hi Katie,

I would assume that the flight would stick to its usual schedule, if your question is regarding whether the flight may leave BGI earlier than scheduled? I imagine that the flight has a pretty standard arrival and departure window on BGI, but you may be lucky. In this current time of flights being cancelled and passengers on connecting flights possibly being out of pocket, i think your 2 hour delay to get to your resort should be looked on as a godsend. [:)]

Thanks,
Sarah

Quite agree, it is a sad fact but in the coming months, any one who has connecting flights not issued on one ticket could find themselves in hot water!

How long do you think these cancellations are going to go on for? into next spring? beyond that? until the current economic climate changes? I am getting more and more concerened, I read all the post saying that people should book their tickets all the way with one airline but its not possible for me to do that, we are tied to dates that cannot be moved or swapped, I have left 2 days wiggle room either side incease of delays but I couldnt re-arrange an entire holiday or have everything shifted forward or back a week.

There are very limited flights to MBJ so I dont think we would be on a flight that merged with another, it would be more likley the entire thing would be cancelled, with that in mind, do you think I should speak to VH and maybe see about flying into Miami instead then connecting onto MBJ from there? I am trying my best to be realistic, but it is realistic to assume that a half empty aircraft just wont fly isnt it?

Dont know if I should just wait it out and hope for the best or do something about it now? what do you think? am I just over-reacting? (I do tend to do that sometimes[:I])

Sorry if this seems blunt, but - Yes!

You are clearly quite understandably looking forward to the trip, but if you constantly search for negatives, and possible problems, you will whittle yourself to casualty. [;)]

That isn't intended as a criticism, we are all made differently - some see glasses half full, some see them as half empty.

IMHO The global economic woes are something that neither you, me or VS can control. Yes, It is worth keeping an eye on things, but not getting yourself in a lather about what may or may not go wrong. YVMV.

My husband has asked if you can replace ''sometimes'' over-reacts with ''always'' over-reacts, and he is very happy that I have found this forum and am unburdening my paranoia onto you lot instead of him, to which he is most greateful [:D]

This forum rocks, thanks everyone[:D]After careful consideration,a 2 hour layover is not so bad in BGI[:I]I should count myself lucky that they didn't cancel the whole flight[:)]
