air miles questions

How many air miles would my wife and I need to go to the following destination U/C both ways?

London to Orlando/Miami

London to Dubai

There would be 2 adults, one infant of 2 and one baby of 6 months.

I currently have 167,000 miles while my wife has 60,000 approx.

We would have seats for the adults but the kids could sit on our laps i.e. no seats

ps:if we did opt for a seat for the older child would that be another full 100K mile seat?

also, i assume you can combine husband/wife totals to make up right amount - i recall ages ago when i was flying club gold i asked for a joint account?

yes, we want to take the children but probs on our laps rather than an extra seat for the 2 year old.

Yup, if you want a reward seat for a child its still the same cost in miles, so probably cheaper to book a revenue fare for the older child.

You can combine miles but only for equal legs, so you can pay for your flight in miles and say one leg of your wife's flight while she pays for the return from her account. If you are FC Gold you can give your wife a supplementary Silver card and then spend miles from that account with no restriction. Its not a merged or family account as such but has similar benefits.

Also, i believe that children over the age of two have to have their own seat and cannot be a lap child.

that's odd as rang F/C tonight to try and get the answer and they didn't mention the issue of an infant over 2 but i trust you guys a lot more!! Looks like Premium here we come!!!

Thanks Moid. I am sure I have read stories where children turning two during the trip have to have a one way ticket bought for the return flight in order to comply with the rules.

I know from booking with VH they ask for children's ages on date of return not date of departure.

If you choose Dubai, then your wife can buy her ticket with her miles, you can buy your ticket and the older child's with your miles and then buy a revenue fare for the baby
