Apologies for not being in the correct forum, one of the accepted downsides of not being a paid member. [:I][:I]

I've got a PM from a v-flyer member which I obviously can't read unless I upgrade to paid membership.

Is there anyway I can read the message without upgrading? [:?][:?]
Can a moderator send the message to my personal email address?

If the only way is to upgrade (which I was holding off until I next fly.) then that's understandable. Would it make sense to bounce back PMs from Paid Members to Non-Paid Members to avoid this happening, if the site can be coded to do it?

Thanks for your help.

Mods, can you move this to the correct forum please!

Surely the answer would be to just become a paid member now - at the very reasonable fees?!

Mods do not have any access to other members PMs, but if you email 'moderator at v-flyer dot com' with the name of the member who has PM'd you, I will make sure they are aware of this thread.

I would also echo what barnstable has said.

This site is not run for profit and, whilst there is some welcome - if intermittent - advertising revenue, it is the subscriptions that help to pay the bills. These are quite large for a site using this much bandwidth.

The decision to keep the General Discussion forum open to all, was made for several reasons. We want to keep the site vibrant, we want to encourage new members and we want one off or occasional visitors to be able ask questions about Virgin Atlantic, and be helped by one or more of the many knowledgeable people here.

In a perfect world, everything would be free and we wouldn't need to do this, but we don't want to go back to the times when Pete was propping the site up out of his own pocket.

Nicely put Nick!

Hi Mike I am new to this site as well, but i figuered that since i read the forums and also wanted to partake in them, that a few pounds seemed a small price considering the knowledge bought forward in the forums will only help to either save you money or ensure complete peace of mind when traveling, if you already know the drill.

Kind Regards

Alex

I suppose it would help if I knew who PM'd me.

It's the first time that I have received an PM since I joined a year ago, apart from the welcoming one which I could read, so it was a surprise to receive it. I will just have to hope who ever sent it sees this thread.

I do find this site a very informative one but at the moment until I go on a flight again (next year), I don't feel I can contribute to the site fully to pay compared to the regulars who give really great advice. Al ot of the advice that I could pass off will have been superceded by more up to date information.

I was intending to join when I go on a flight next time, for information and advice on the threads on the other forums. However, if the site decides to become a fully paid one then I expect I would part with my money.

As the other posters have advised, I think I might have to part with my money sooner.

Not yet! I'm setting up a new paypal account, aaccording to paypal, the way I've set up my account is going to take 2 days to process through (gone the verified option.)

Once it's done I'll get my membership upgraded.[8D][8D]

Same thing happened with me and paypal, it took a couple of days to verify with my bank and luckily for me my 10 year old was at hand to help me sort it all out lol

I cant offer any info or help on flights either, but I enjoy the site nevertheless and there are lots of other threads that I can join in with such as the travel forums etc, it was a huge pain aswell not being able to reply to threads in other sections such as trip repots or ask a guru, I always had questions to ask but didnt want to start a new thread on the subject each and everytime in the general forum if you get my drift!

Anyways, I felt a few quid was well worth all the great advice I'v recieved [:D]
