Please can someone help
I am booked with my family to Orlando in October on VS027
I pre book my seats on the website and was only able to get seat in rows 62
I checked today to see if any further seats have become available and the following message appeared
We're sorry. The seat map is not available at this time. Your seats will be assigned at check in.
Please can someone advise
Thanks in advance

A warm welcome to the site.

If you look back, or search the site, there are numerous threads about the vagaries of pre-allocating seats with VS.

This one and this one, are examples, but there are lots more. The second (long) one is more relevant to your situation.

You don't book seats with Virgin, you request them. Requests are always subject to change, and only a percentage are available for pre-allocation requesting. [;)]

Other seats open up when OLCI opens which is 24 hours before take off, but others, like exit rows, will only be allocated at the airport.

Virgin will do all they can to seat families together and this may involve some seat shuffling - and some unhappy people, which is why they stress they are only requests. Obviously, due to the high percentage of families on the plane, the Orlando flight is subject to this more than any others.

It would seem that your a/c is one of the ones that has re fitted to have rows 62 and up as extra legroom seats which VS charge for.

As Nick points out this has been discussed at length recently.

VS soon realised that families were bagging the back row seats due to the extra space and have now decided to charge extra for them and increase the legroom. Its been rolled out across the fleet so sadly it is impossible for VS to work out which a/c will be on which route when the seat request system is first loaded.

Hi regis

My daughter, had her pre requested seat to SYD changed between phone booking and 6 months before the flight due to someone needing that particular seat.

It's just one of those things.

We have been to orlando from MAN a few times and have all been seated together as a family.

I didn't know thisÉ I'm off to NYC next week on a UC Z ticket and chose my seats at the time of booking. When I went back to look at them again, the site told me that I couldn't make seat selections at this point - strange, as I'd already made them!

Is it likely then, that I'll be reallocated to less favourable seats on the day?

Not necessarily. The links Nick provided explain the situation in full, but when a certain % of pax have pre-requested their seats then the system does not allow any more pax to do so and the message you are getting is displayed. Your existing request should still be ok (and should show under your name), but it still may changed by VS if circumstances dictate.

Maybe not, it's probably means the no. of available seats that can be pre-requested has been reached. You'll find that when you do OLCI 24 hours before your flight, more seats will become available on the seat map.

Ah, I see. That's cool - I'm very excited about my inaugaral UC flights! Particularly about going upstairs on the way back - something I've always wanted to do since I was a kid.

Bring on the VS Ninja jammies / champers / cowshed treatments etc

We have travelled from MAN-MCO many times over the last few years and we have never been separated, the best advice is to either check-in online, do twilight check-in if this is feasible or get to the airport early just to be on the safe side.
