It's discontinued from October on, blah. She said they *might* have another cake sorted by then (supply problems) but possibly not. Also a wee bit miffed that the only 'celebration' drinks etc. they do are non-alcoholic! I like the idea of the champagne glasses, it's our honeymoon and would be fun to have them to remember, but I'm pregnant.

Oh well!

I booked & PAID for celebration bubbles on a flight for friends in July. They didn't know as it was a surprise.

Some while after their return they had still not mentioned a passing 'thanks' so began to wonder. [:?]

I phoned the correct dept who said 'it had been loaded so it would have been delivered!'[:?][V]

I eventually had to ask my friends which I was loathe to do but had no choice. They had not received any champagne.[V]

I rang the correct dept & spoke to a VERY helpful indivdual who immediately arranged for my credit card to be credited. This staff member also suggested I write to VA & gave me all the reference numbers etc.

I did so & received an apology & 5000 flying miles as compensation.

To be honest I would rather my friends had received the surprise champagne as they had just become engaged. I will never order any item again.

Ah, who wants a cake in the sky... save your money and treat tourself to a lovely meal (or similar) once you get to your destination... [;)]

Double congratulations though [:)]

I ordered a cake and the champagne/glasses for a friends b-day a couple of years ago. The cake arrived but the champagne did not. The CC were great - brought a bottle up from Upper Class (we were in PE sitting upstairs, and had a small party with friends sitting in the front row of PE and on the jump seats).
I was refunded the money for the champagne and also got some miles for the inconvenience.

That's a bit sucky they got rid of it! Yes the cake is quite cheesy, but people love it! My did it for my mum's 50th on the flight and she was made up.

I'm guessing that because the service cannot be consistently delivered, that has led to the withdrawal?

We knock airlines for delivering inconsistent service, or failing to provide an advertised service, so maybe it's better this way?

Did the biz for us last year too. And it was sorted for me a full 24 hours after the published final order time.

Shame if it's being permanently withdrawn.

When I took my first trip to the USA (but not my first VS trip) a friend had arranged a bottle of champagne to be delivered. We were upgraded on board because our PE seat was faulty and the engineers couldn't fix it. The FSM brought it to me near the end of the flight. Apparently so much had gone wrong down the back that they nearly forgot it. Unfortunately I did forget it and it was only in the taxi that I realised I had left it on board. [:0] A call to VS at EWR resulted in a conversation with the duty manager who was the rudest person I have ever dealt with in VS who clearly didn't believe me and thought I was chancing my arm even though it came in a bag with my name and seat number on it. However a letter to VS on my return resulted in an apology and 5000 miles
