I travelled JFK-LHR on the VS4 last Thursday and was somewhat surprised to find the JFK Clubhouse closed for 'refurbishment' There seems to be nothing on the VS website warning about this. The alternative is a communal lounge imaginatively called 'The Lounge' which provides a very poor altertive service to the CH. Staff were ill informed, the VS flights don't even apppear on the flight board in there and the food was barely edible.

You have been warned! My displeasure has been communicated to customer services - we'll see what happens.

Oh that is no bueno. Did VS offer a credit to be used in the airport for food? The would have been a somewhat good compromise. 'The Lounge' is not great but is a Priority Pass lounge.

How was the flight?

That's not good at all! The JFK clubhouse is one of the best for food, we always eat there before sleeping in the Snooze zone. I would have been mighty peeved if this had happened to us.

Sadly no offer of food voucher and barely an apology for the lack of the CH being available. I have used The Lounge before when flying with MaxJet and also under PP when flying VS PE and it was not as bad as this time.

I love the JFK CH and always looked forward to my dinner (well Burger!) before departure so was bitterly disappointed.

I quite agree with that statement - when I was there a couple of weeks ago there were notices about refurbishment that I was glad to see, it had been looking 'tired'. But to shut it completely and offer no full meal option then a GNF would leave me similarly displeased ... they could have set up a serviced bar in The Lounge at least and provided better than usual snacks!

Well I can confirm that it is open now as I was in there last night before my flight home.
