USA to Canada

I'm 'nesting' a trip to Canada during my trip to San Francisco and points beyond. Obviously when I check in for my Westjet flight I will have the return portion of the I-94 stapled into my passport. Will it be removed and will I have to fill in another one for entry to the US? Or what?

The last time I went USA-Canada-USA was in 2004. Then you retained you I94-W and Canadian Immigration stamped your passport.

It may have changed though.

When I drove to Canada from the US last summer, I kept the I-94 inside my passport and went through Canadian immigration.

On the way back into the US, you should just hand over your passport with the I-94 still inside, they re-swipe your passport and that's it.

No. You absolutely DON'T hand your I-94W in.

I do this almost every month. When you go to check in, point out that you'll be returning to the US within the validity of your visa. They'll then let you keep your green 'ticket'.

On return, you ONLY fill out the white customs form in Canada. The I-94 is still valid. Sometimes they re-stamp (for another 90 days); other times, they just keep the same validity period. Either way is cool.


It's an interesting point, as *technically*, you could do this when coming back to the UK and planning to return within 3 months. BUT it's never been a point that I've been bothered arguing...

I hope you mean that with regard to Paul's 'technicality'. [:0]
