I would like some advice from fellow Flying

I recently submitted a claim for some missing miles for some SQ
flights.

These were as follows:
KUL-SIN SQ5329
KUL-SIN SQ5321
KUL-SIN SQ5325

All of the flights were booked through SQ on SQ tickets however the flight
is operated by Silk Air. The fare details state that you earn miles however
it says '*Miles are not applicable on SQ codeshare flights with
non-KrisFlyer partners such as Malaysia Airlines'.

As per the SQ web site the VS flying club is a Partner -
http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/en_UK/c ... iles/other
_airline_partners.jsp?v=489356898&

Before these flights were booked I called the Flying club and enquired as
to whether I was going to get miles and TP's. I was informed that I would
get them providing that I was on an SQ ticket and that the fare was
eligible for miles.

After contacting the Flying club several times to chase the missing miles I
was informed yesterday that I'm not able to claim them owing to the flights
being operated by Silk Air.

I explained the above to a member of the flying club and was advised that
this was what she was told and I should write to Customer Relations and see if they can help.

Today I received a reply from them basically re-stating that they cannot add the miles.

Has anybody managed to claim miles for a flight with similar circumstances?

I have always made sure not to book the MH and MI codeshare flights because of this issue. I'm not 100%, but I'm quite sure that these flights are not eligible for miles or tier points as they are codeshares. The text you have quoted relates to Kris Flyer, so you can earn miles for the flights under KF but not as a code share through VS.

You could follow it up with customer services if a representative told you the flights were eligible to earn miles though I dont think you'll end up with any tier points as a result.

Thanks,
Sarah

I try to avoid them as well and only took them because I was advised that it was ok. the problem is now I dont have the name and date/time I called.

Today I gave up and added them to the KF account.

Its such a pain that MI now operate most of the KUL-SIN flights on sundays.

Yup, we had this when we flew KUL-SIN in December. I think there was only a choice of two flights on SQ, all the rest were MI or MH but as we booked direct with SQ we knew which flights we had to take.

I'm sorry this didnt work out for you. A cautionary for other V-Flyers looking to travel on this route though.

Thanks,
Sarah
