Just flew back from EWR a couple of nights ago and they were asking for 15 volunteers as the flight was heavily oversold. We volunteered (4 of us) but were the only ones they didn't need (Boo Hoo) [n] However there were probably 10 people who volunteered who did get bumped. They were offering free return flights (or 50K miles) accommodation overnight and flights the following morning or evening. Incidentally they said the following morning's flight was also overbooked.
