Hi

I've read all the old threads about couples travelling in UC. Unfortunately what is not clear is where the removeable divider is. Presumably it's between seats D and G on each row? If someone can confirm that would be great.

Also, does anyone know which seat you are more likely to get moved out of if there is a baby on board in this configuration?

Thanks for your help.

The removable divider is no more so I would either suggest sitting opposite each other at the front of A-zone (rows 12, 14, 15) or one behind the other.

The bassinet position in Upper Class on the LHR 747 is at 20DG.

When did this happen Tinks?

Thanks,

A couple of months ago IIRC. The engineers are changing them to make them fixed in place. Some of them in theory can still be taken out but we've been told not to as it would be offering the service on some planes and not others.

Interesting, any reason given for their removal Tinks?

They always seemed a bit awkward and unwieldy to remove for one thing, the latching mechanism didn't seem all that secure (i.e. could a divider become unsecured during turbulence?), and the middle suites would get all dinged up around where the dividers came out. It's another thing to go wrong in the cabin.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if those were the main drivers.

I've noticed that the 'derivative' Contour seat (superior in some ways to the UCS) which is flying on Air Canada, Jet Airways, Cathay and others, has a droppable (but not full depth) section on the middle seats which enables you to see your neighbour, a bit like the retractable divider on BA NGCW.

I will greatly miss the divider. It wasnt perfect but allowed a lot more space when travelling as a couple on a night flight.

Thanks,
Sarah

Now that would be a great idea, would be a good improvement on UCS! (when they do one that is!)

I can think of one very good one that happened a couple of years a go on a party bus flight.

The dividers were causing too much damage to the suites, the area was becoming scratched and dented and left horrible marks.

There was never really that much demand for them to be removed anyway.
