I have a reward flight to SFO booked for next june (cant believe how quickly the dates for reward availability dissapear!). We will be in SFO for four nights before going to LAS for 10 or 11 nights.

I was planning on coming back from LAS to SFO the day before our return flight, just to avoid any stress from delays etc at the airport and missing connecting flights.

My question is.. Is coming back a day earlier pointless and should I just get an earlier flight on the day? Can virgin book these flights for me on VS code share with HP, so that the ticket would show as a connecting through ticket and not seperate bookings?

Thanks for any advise.

If you're getting an earlier flight the same day as your flight back to London, then yes get VS to put it in the booking. It doesn't have to be a codeshare flight, any airline can be added to the booking.

This is advised as your bags can be checked through as well as if you are delayed for whatever reason and miss you flight, the airline responsible will be obliged to help you out. If you book it on your own without the two airlines knowing you are conx, they don't have a duty to help you out if something goes wrong. I've seen this happen and it's not pretty.
