Well, just to add my comments...

I got my card 4 weeks ago and decided to use it alongside my Texaco "weou" card.

This means that I can now get 2 miles for every £1 spent on petrol and I use the Amex as per the promotion.(1 point on "weou" and 1 point on Amex)

I have now spent over £600 on it and the points show on my Amex rewards and my "weou" points [8D]

Paid my £95 fee and my first months statement...

... Unfortunately, still no 20k miles [n]

I would give amex a call.

My 20k miles got credited a few days after my first purchase, and some three weeks before I recieved my first AMEX statement.

Sounds a lot better that Virgin's Credit Card I've had to wait 4 months for my 2,000 points!

Is Amex payment only, do they do a card for less points but no payment?

As previously mentioned, go straight to the Virgin Members Shop for any issues with points from the Virgin Card. I did battle with MBNA for weeks and go no-where. Then I made a quick call to Members Shop and spoke to a friendly chap who credited my 4,000 straight away and said "they will go on with your next monthly transfer which is in 2 days time". Sure enough they did!

Wish I would have gone there in the first place! :D

Anyone else getting fed up checking their account to see if the 20K has been credited. 10 weeks since I had the card and still nothing.

I know they say up to 12 weeks when you ring to enquire, but they don't have to take that long do they[:o)]

Yawn!

12 weeks are up next Tuesday and still no 20k miles...

... on my 3rd statement... spent loads...

..."won't be long now" say Virgin and Amex...

...will let you all know what they say after 12 weeks...[:(!]

How strange.

as I posted earlier, my miles came on within days of first purchase.

I even got an additional 20k miles recently, double bubble! - or so I thought. FC & Amex must have realised the error, and deducted the extra 20k a couple of weeks later....

I had the same experience as Richard28, so I'm all right, Jack [}:)].

How can customers be treated so differently by the same computer system? [:(!]

I'm still waiting too 2 phone calls 2 statements they said "IT WILL BE 12 WEEKS AFTER YOURE FIRST PURCHASE"

The chap on the phone also stated that once I had met the criteria for getting my points my details were added to a file which then gets sent to FC and it is this file sending that takes 12 weeks - which it obviously doesn't as others have shown.[:(!]

I guess its the luck of the draw as to who answers the phone to help you. I had to chase for months for mine for the Virgin Credit Card but my husband got his straight away.

Obviously still a few unhappy members.

Just wondering out of everybody here that got the Amex, how many got there miles (and how soon) and how many (like us) are still waiting?

I assume the idea behind the amex gold offer was to introduce us to the increased benefits and services available, in the hope we would continue to subscribe to the card in the future.

After waiting over 11 weeks for my introductory points, my inital impression of American Express is not particularly favourable[:(]

UPDATE

I have just been rung at work by Amex Customer Services - the very nice lady told me that she had checked my account and the way my credit had been set up I would never have received the miles[:o)]

BUT she had manually added the credit to my rewards account and initated the transfer:D

So I take it back:D

(But I'm still unlikley to renew[}:)] )

Perhaps a poll along the lines of "How long did yours take?"

Just an idea...

I started this thread and never got around to applying for an Amex card. It seems that it was more trouble that it was worth!
