I heard PE pax can now get into the clubhouse at LGW for a fee. Is This correct? and how do we go about it.

Does anyone know if you have to be a Virgin Holidays customer to book, or can anyone book it through the virgin holiday web site?

You don't have to be a VH customer - providing there's availability, you can book it as an individual item...

... and then, you'll be a VH customer ;):D

the link is misleading for the Gatwick lounge as when you try to book, it only offers the servisair lounge, its not very clear!

That usually means the LGW CH is full for the dates you're selecting. CH passes REALLY need to be booked as far in advance as possible, if you need one.

[?]..and when I tried to book a LHR winter date, I set 2 passengers in the opening frame where the pass was offered at 30 quid, was asked again in the next frame to enter # passengers and it tallied at two for 60 pound each--120! A bit steep with no hair or beauty access--or a glitch?

Blimey, I didn't know you could book CH access for *any* fare class via Virgin Holidays!

Just to be doubly sure - there's five of us going to New York in November (economy only, alas) but looking at the link provided we can each stump up 30 quid and get into the new Clubhouse at Heathrow?

Hoping to take my parents to New York next year, doubt I will be able to afford them to Upper so this is very welcome news. At least it will be a nice start to the holiday, its just a shame you then have to put up with no lounge access - not even Priority Pass at JFK on the return. Grrrrrr.

Probly get shot down in flames, but I don't approve of it really, if I go upper I look forwards to the quiet classy time in the lounge.

Goin PE next time and paying for an ordinary lounge as a bolthole from the crowds downstairs, I wouldn't take my kids in to a VA clubhouse if I had any unless they had a UC seat.

Its nice to have a place where kids can have fun and be offered facilities, but its just as nice for adults to have their own space as well even if they pay top dollar for it.

I can understand that - its a debate that has been had on here a few times. I am very much in two minds about it, and for complete selfish reasons.

I love the exclusivity of the CH for UC and Au pax, but for times like above when I would love nothing more then to pay for my parents to fly UC (even if i was down the back in Y) but can't this opportunity is a real bonus. Also the numbers will be very limited that VH allow into the CH.

Also £60 per head, you aren't really going to get that many families with kids running around screaming - which i guess is part of the reason big price when they can book another lounge for £15 a head.

And of course its great marketing for VS, if you are prepared to pay £60 to get into the CH you may well be a potential UC pax so this would be a great teaser, would be interesting to see what such a conversion rate is.

I don't think it's a comment deserving of a flaming - there have been previous discussions on the board about the fine line that Virgin need to balance between exclusivity and also dangling the carrot of "if you fly Upper Class next time, you can always have this!" in front of other people.

To be honest, I think they have got the balance about right: non-UC lounge access seems to be limited to a set quota (anyone able to confirm this?) and you don't get access to the Spa treatments, thus not giving you completely free reign of the place.

The worry about the lounge becoming a glorified creche and/or booze-hounds paradise are, I would suggest, although genuine concerns are not ones that should ever become an issue as long as Virgin keep control of the entry quotas.

Think that is okay - will tell you next week as there are 4 of us going to New York next Friday - I can get one other person into the lounge with my gold card so the other 2 would have had to sit outside. I therefore, about 6 weeks ago, bought 2 lounge passes on the VH website for the VA Clubhouse at LHR for £30 each (I hadnt bought the flights through VA or VH either but that didnt seem to matter) - I got the vouchers today so unless things have changed they should be allowed access too!!
