So next year I'll likely be making about 6 or more transatlantic trips, and the easiest route seems to be to EWR via CDG on Delta metal. However the Air France fares on codeshare consistently come in at 60-80% of the Delta marketed fare.
However, if I book through the AF website, I can only choose to have my loyalty points added to AF or Delta (or one of the others that I will never ever use), not FC. If I book via Delta I can choose FC. I am not minded to think that paying over the odds is going provide value just to accrue FC miles when it looks like I can comfortably achieve Delta Gold and get all the benefits of that.
I was wondering though, if I book it through AF will it create a booking on Delta for me? If that's the case could I then log into Delta and change my loyalty points to be pointed at my FC account?
Even if I can I'm thinking that I might be better off just getting Skymiles since it will be rare that I get to use Virgin due to the problems with connections to LHR and thus I might as well just blow all my FC miles on a Y to UC upgrade if ever I take enough time off work to be able to fly VS metal.
