Hi virgin silver card arrived today .planning a trip to la next year question is do get there on a non direct flight to gain tier points to get to gold which I know I won't be able to keep or should I take the 787 flight direct.i have not flown the 787 yet .which ever way I choose I would be turning left .Your thoughts please

Congrats on the Ag card! :)

The 789s also serve the SFO route, so you could go LHR-SFO-LAX and get the best of both. Although remember there's never any guarantee that you'll be on a 789 until you're actually on the plane - it's been said before but I wouldn't book a route based solely on the type of aircraft as this can always change at any time.

Personally I'd go direct. Even though I treat the journey as part of the holiday, the less time I spend hanging around airports, (Club House excepted) the better.
And if the likely plane for the direct route is the Dreamliner, I take it for the experience.
