Went through the UC LHR security channel this morning at 7.30 and the line was all the way back to the glass door! Took over half an hour to get through.

Meanwhile the regular security lines were empty: 5 min wait max! Really disappointing start to the trip.

I couldn't see the regular lines until we were already through. There was nobody waiting!

Clubhouse very disappointing as well; have been 3 or 4 times in last year and always had fantastic service. This morning, despite it not even being busy, staff have been very inattentive and bordering on rude! Just ignore us and even when we've flagged them down to enquire about having a drink it's been met with an attitude of us being an inconvenience! Drinks have just been plonked down without so much as a word.

All it takes is for one passenger not to be security ready or follow the instructions and it holds the rest of the queue up.

All the delays I've experienced have been due to my fellow passengers not being ready.

Not guilty of the hold up!
Went through at about nine am after a delay at check in due to a broken belt. Only one chap and a crew member in front of me, however it turns out the American was in the wrong terminal! Should have been on a Delta flight from T4 how he got so far I don't know? It then took an age to repackage all his belongings which somehow were distributed amongst four trays! By the time this was sorted a queue of "tutting " passengers had built up! >-(

My tongue in cheek comment was more about the service in the CH.

You have to ask....how did that passenger get so far? Presumably he hadn't needed to check in anywhere but then how did he get upstairs? I thought the lift was bar code controlled?

Isn't the lift out of action at the moment due to the refurbishment works in the VS check-in area? Last time I was there (admittedly a couple of months ago) I was sent up the escalator from the temporary check-in area, then through the "magic door" as usual. That's opened using your boarding pass but it's easy enough to tailgate someone.

As to queues at the private security channel - they happen! There's only one lane for all VS & DL premium cabin & elite status passengers and with several flights scheduled to depart pre-10am, 7.30 is going to be busy.

Not used it in a while (last two times I flew VS the first I used the T5-T3 connections route and the last was using DTCI) but unless it has changed the lift does not emerge in the VS UC Wing but in the public part of the Departures level (though tucked slightly out of the way). It is still a public lift.

I remember the first time I flew UC - I checked in then used the escalator to go up a level to collect my currency from Travelex then back down via escalator to then go up in the lift because I thought it was a private lift direct into the Wing. Major disappointment as there wasn't a seat in it (unlike the one up to the CH), it was filthy and I emerged just opposite the travelex desk!

So it's likely the DL interloper tailgated.

The lift up from Zone A is still functional despite the refurb. I admit I was puzzled the first time I used it as it doesn't really go anywhere that the escalator doesn't. Still, I always like going in something exclusive. Even if it is just a lift :D
