Travelled on VWKD about six weeks or so ago. The UC suites did look considerably past their prime. But yes - no more 789s due this year, VFAN was the last for a while!

Feel I should start bets now on the odds that she will be my 'girl' across to JFK on Thursday evening....that said I felt she was reasonable shape when we were last together in February to SFO :-D

I remember seeing her in HKG many years ago with a great big hole in her backside following a tailscrape on landing!

I flew on her in April out to Miami. The seat was fine but the monitor screen was dreadful.

I am sure she will have a lovely time decaying in the desert ;-)

She is going out with a bang, diverted to Knoxsville on the 115, that must be the first VS aircraft to land at TYS?

I assume medical?

Possibly, but more likely weather related I think. A lot of thunderstorms around the ATL area today.

Something similar to the bang she had in HKG!

I thought the bang in Hong Kong for G-VWKD was a tail-strike on takeoff? I know someone who was on the flight.

(VS827) is going LWG to SFB which is sanford Florida not the desert, unless they have moved it.

Just seen her coming into LGW for what will probably be her last landing in the UK.

I flew on on WKD to SFO a few years ago - one of my favourite name/reg combos of the fleet.

What a waste of an aircraft that's barely ten years old - my O/H's car is older! :-D

Very sad.

Saw her outside the VS hanger at LHR as we came into land on the VS042 before her short trip across to LGW.

I see on another forum it's been suggested her lease has come to an end and she is been returned to the lessor hence the positioning flight to SFB rather than the desert.

Was my first aircraft I travelled on back from JFK and in UC.

For me the UC suite and experience was amazing so if people are saying this is a lesser state at present wow what can I say for upper it must be amazing at it's best.

Sad to see her go, the 340's are my favourite of the airbus aircraft virign has will definitely not be sad to see the 330's go when thwey eventually do which I know is quite a few years from now.

The A330 is an excellent aircraft, it's the overly dense layout of UC that's the problem. Thankfully VS are addressing that and refitting the cabin to replicate the Dreamliner layout which is much less crowded.

Remember travelling of this aircraft when it was brand new back from Tokyo - how times change quickly these days. Do we know how long the longest remaining lease on any 346 is?
