All I can really say is UCS is a fab experience and skip the kids meals they are pants, you will probably find the kids will like the "light bites" on the menu better anyway.

you can change your meal preferences on the website I think on update your booking, I know if I were 10 and in upper class I would be well miffed with a tray of sweeties, fruit and spaghetti, lol.

I forgot to ask - is the food any good on Virgin UC

Not bad. Probably not up to F or SQ. But nice all the same. Food in the Clubhouse is very acceptable too. As of course are the drinks. It is v-flyer policy to suggest to people that they try a mcuth blue as a drink in the CH - it is the v-flyer signature drink!

I've done the route twice in the last fifteen months with VA- once in economy/PE once in Upper Class bothways. The LGW Upper Class cabin is much smaller than the LHR aircraft and you'll be so spoilt you won't really care about IFE!!The kids will be pleased you've changed their meals too.Hope they've finished Grantley Adams reconstructive work and be warned the Caribbean Executive lounge is much grander sounding than it is (and can get really busy). The local brew by the way is Banks (Red stripe is Jamaican)and tastes just fine! Hope you have a great time.

Oh wanted to ask something - I was going to join the flying club but to be honest most of my long haul is to the far east and I built up quiet a lot of miles on my SIA Kris flyer card - I see that virgin and Sia are sharing points on each others flights -- am I correct to use my kris flyer card rather than start over again with the Flying club - 80% of my long haul in the past 24 months has been with either Sia or Thai ( both part of star alliance)
Thanks for any information

If you bung "mcuth blue" into the search at the top of the page (next to "respected Users") all will be revealed!;)

BTW - red stripe is indeed the local brew. However the number 1 best drink in the world is also distilled in Barbados - Mount Gay! Go for the 12 year old variety and I guarantee "every ting be all riiight" (try saying it with a mellow Bob Marl accent). You can also go on tours of both the distilery (OMG that is so cool!) and the brewery. Do not plan on driving after the distillery - give your car keys to the kids!

Ditto that!

I decided it would be rude not to do the tours when i was in BGI, and ended up purchasing half a dozen bottles of Mount Gay! Absolutely lovely stuff, and the smell of it in the distillery is beautiful! The best bit was the end of the tour where you do the tasting!!

Is it business or pleasure? If the latter, let us know where you are staying, if it is your first trip or not, and I am sure more great tips will be forthcoming.

Its pleasure with all the family - Staying at the HIlton as it was the only 5* that would accept kids this time of the year - I stayed many years ago at the rOYAL PAVILLION Before the kids arrived but they have a no kids policy this time of the year - I regret that my Euro millions loto ticket did not win to affors the Sandy Lane - Prices are mad there - I knw its amazing but simply crazy for a family room - over 1000 euro per night inc continental breakfast -- wow - dont care just would not pay that when you can go too Thailand and stay in 6* delux hotels in amazing places for 1/2 that price

you can find barbados either way eat at calabazza or the cliff and you ll easily spend £200 and some( 4 of u with couple of nice wines), but on the other hand i know plenty of chattel houses on the west/south coast that you ll get change from £20 !! and the food is great !!
try 'carib beach' not far from you , lovely wide beach and safe for kids with a grt beach bar.
if your up west try mullins beach bar , nice restaurant called sugasuga which serves grt food and can get lively sometimes (look out for my frnds malibu and jack frost ,they have a boat with all the usual shaninigans that go with it , they ll look after you !)
