Just a quick hello from the JFK Clubhouse. Just finished off the amazing afternoon tea service and currently sat waiting for my massage.

This could be interesting flight back to MAN as they are looking for 1 volunteer to downgrade to Premium for 100K Flying Club miles or a free Upper Class return ticket as J is over-sold.

I’ve already said no as 1) I’m a Gold card holder and 2) VS have already cancelled my original flight home to MAN yesterday and switched it to today so I’ve had to find and pay for accommodation in New York last night >-(

My itinerary is FLL>JFK>MAN and I flew the original DL leg from FLL yesterday.

VS also wouldn’t switch that DL flight to today even though they switched the VS flight to today meaning I could have stayed in Fort Lauderdale an extra night (which would have been my preferred option).

I knew this would happen as originally the A/C was an A333 and had more than 14 seats allocated in J and then VS decided to switch the A/C to a 744 earlier this year >-(

Afternoon James!

Hope you're having fun in the CH and enjoy your back massage.

I'd be very tempted by the free UC return. Do they make you pay tax and would there need to be reward availability?

The flight times are averaging 05:45 over the last week...

Not sure. I would guess it’s what VS used to call the green or red select vouchers. The green ones don’t include tax but the red ones do. VS issued either depending on how bad the service recovery was.

I don’t like to ask really as they might take that as meaning I’m interested in the downgrade!

I agree though, the voucher is way better value than the miles seen as many G’s now cost more than 100K miles anyway.

They are a bit crappy with changing Delta flights. I had a situation with a reward booking that they were difficult with rebooking via JFK as it meant a DL connection which I found funny, took a bit of cajoling but eventually they rebooked onto what I wanted, could you not have stood your ground at FLL?

Hope you have a nice flight back although I have to be honest I would have snapped up the offer!

You should be able to claim the hotel plus cost of meals and transport to and from JFK back from VS and depending on the reasons some nice EU261 for the cancellation

Back home now. I wasn't the one downgraded thankfully.

Even when VS changed the flight date more than 14 days ago? I thought you could only claim using EU261 when the airline cancelled the flight less than 14 days before travel? VS changed my flight to the following day months ago now.

I took the downgrade and the flight offered in compensation includes taxes etc. No brainer for me. Especially as my pal took the downgraded seat. Lol
