Hi,

My daughter has an account with the above bank, it’s one where you can buy dollars that then sit on your account. It comes with a debit card. I haven’t ever tried to us a debit card while over there, but wondered if anyone else here has or does. If so, is it s widely accepted as credit cards?

Thanks!

Claire

As long as it's issued by either VISA and MasterCard, there shouldn't be any issues using it in stores or at ATM's.

Do be wary though as many ATM's do often incur their own extra fees though, even if the card being used is ForEx fee free. For example if I use my Nationwide FlexPlus VISA debit card to withdraw cash whilst in the US; whilst it doesn't charge me any foreign transaction fees, many ATM operators do still stick on a $3-4 fee on top of the withdrawal amount.

I have a TransferWise account that operates in the same way, with a USA branded debit card. Has served us well on the last couple of trips to the USA.
