2 more cancelled routes - The Bahamas and Turks & Caicos

2 more VS routes canned from 2025:

The Bahamas route (NAS) canceled from 23/02/2025 (this is the second time this route has been canceled now)
Turks & Caicos (PLS) canceled from 21/02/2025 (this route only launched in Nov 2023)

As we continue to focus on optimising our network, we regularly review the destinations we fly to, and after careful consideration, we’ve taken the difficult decision to suspend our operations to The Bahamas and Turks & Caicos.

The last flight to Turks & Caicos (PLS) will operate on 21 February 2025, and to the Bahamas (NAS) on 23 February 2025. Anyone booked to travel after these dates will be entitled to a full refund or to be rebooked onto alternative flights on another carrier.

Please note that the flights will not show as cancelled in the GDS until the weekend of 10 August 2024, when we will be updating our systems to reflect the change. Nevertheless, we wanted to inform you as soon as possible and share information on options and next steps for our mutual customers.

We are diligently arranging rebooking options with other airlines, so please check our Bulletins page using the link here after 9 August 2024 for an update regarding the available options and guidance with rebooking. If, however, you would prefer to opt for a refund, you can request this immediately, referring to the refund guidelines in the Schedule Change Policy.

This is not a decision we have taken lightly, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused to affected customers. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

Bookings affected by these changes will be updated in your GDS on Saturday 10 August 2024.

Is there any particular reason why these two routes have been scrapped?

Whilst I get the need to constantly review routes and not persevere with loss-making routes, it’s not a good sign that more routes are ditched, especially so soon after the announcement to discontinue PVG.

Both are double-drop routes using MBJ (with the crew staying in MBJ I believe) which is probably a contributing factor.

And MBJ is always oddly for the Caribbean routes, a 787!
