Looks like an A346 both ways but could change using EF.

Looking at the WHICH AIRCRAFT WILL I BE ON? Tool, seams that mainly the A343, A343 Suite and A346 are used.

Trend for VS 06
Aircraft Type-----------%age
A340-300----------------30%
747-400 (LHR Suite)-----1%
A340-600 (Suite)--------48%
747-400 (LGW/MAN Suite)-1%
A340-300 (Suite)--------20%

michael,
Both flights currently shown utilizing Airbus 340-600 equipment.
As always aircraft can be changed for operational reasons.

MIA is currently pencilled in on summer timetable for a daily A346..... Think the summer schedules run from approx end of March through to end of October.......

The OPS change always lingers for every flight though...[}:)]

If you have made a booking for these flights, you can 'manage your booking' on http://www.virgin-atlantic.com. If you follow the links through you will end up with a seat map for your flight. If you compare that to the seat maps here, then bingo - you will know what aircraft is scheduled.

And then again they may swap planes on you when you aren't looking.

Didn't we have a similar discussion recently where declan informed us that this route will be mainly LHR 744s over the summer?

In [url=
http://www.v-flyer.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10014]this[/url] thread, we were informed that MIA would be an A346 route.

Although, as we all know, there is no foolproof way of knowing what aircraft will be on a specific route on a specific day. Aside from security concerns, the plane assigned to a particular flight is not guaranteed and can change right up to departure due to operational reasons.

I would stick with the VS seat map, if its showing an A346 then thtas what its likely to be scheduled as.

Thanks,
Sarah

Isn't that thread about LHR/LAX rather than LHR/MIA? I was referring to this thread.
MIA is currently on a A346 and from mid feb will return to a 744 for the summer.
I know not for sure but assume declan is someone in the know.

But I would always go with Sarah's advice to go with the VS seat maps. They do sometimes have a slight hic-up, but that's what I would rely on.

"Operational reasons aside", I had always had a lingering thought as to why they couldnt confirm longer in advance. Its a bit obvious now [:#].

This may be too far in advance, but is it likely to be a 744 in November?

The A346 just doesnt appeal to me!

I think its far too early to even contemplate, never mind know. (although if it were me, id be thinking A346 as there are more and more of those cropping up)

I wouldn't worry about the A346 at all.

By November all the A346's will have the new economy class seating, increased seat pitch, and the new PE seats.

And of course, they all have V:Port [^]

Yeah, i have heard somewhere that the PE seating is better on the 346 than the 744. Its just ive been on the 744 so many times in the past i dont like the idea of change!
