Service times

Flying at 9.15 Gatwick, due to land 13.00 in St Lucia.

Will they service breakfast or lunch? How long into the flight do they serve meals? Hot meals or snacks?

Also on way back, flight leaves St Lucia about 17.30 and lands at Gatwick around 6.30. Do we get hot meal in the evening? Cooked breakfast?

Just trying to decide how much to eat before we get on plane.

Going to St Lucia expect a cooked Lunch about 1 hour into your flight and afternoon snack (sandwich) about 1 1/2 hours before landing.

On the way back it will be cooked dinner approx 1 hour into flight then cold breakfast approx 1 1/2 hours before landing

You didnt specify what class you are flying, i take it from your previous posts its economy?

On the outbound, normally an hour or so it just depends into the flight they will come round and give you your "food".You will also get a snack before landing in St Lucia.

On thew way home it will be a hot meal generally served early into the flight,then about 45 min before landing you get a yoghurt and some breakfasty snack (like a cereal bar). You only get a hot bacon roll if you are travelling inbound in Upper Class. or i may be wrong here, perhaps someone who is a seasoned traveller in this class can elaborate.

Yeah it makes alot of difference as in Upper you get a better quality of food and more dishes to choose from .I think PE. & Economy are the same meals please correct if I'm wrong.Anyway meagain have a great time in St Lucia. [8D]

PE and Econ are exactly the same meals. The main PE v Econ differences are leg room and that you get a boarding glass of bubbly in PE

There is one small difference with regards meals. You get served your food first in PE. So they are certain to have you preferred choice of hot meal. You also get a welcome on-board drink before take-off. Choose the champagne option as it will be the only glass of champagne you will get through-out the trip. Otherwise, juice and water is on offer as a welcome drink.

Dont forget the after dinner round of Baileys/Brandy in PE too!

I have had more than the one glass of Bubbly in PE. Depends on the crew serving and timings, so dont expect it but its not unheard of. I have had occasions where i had more than one glass as a welcome drink due to delays, and i have also had Champagne with my meal as the lovely FA's forced me to have more bubbly as im not a huge wine drinker

Being served first is a small but very very important point. Thanks for picking it up. However I have yet to see a drop of the fabled brandy and baileys[:(!]

Yes the food will be the same, somtimes a little nearer landing with afternoon tea and of course the Baileys and brandy between tea and coffee services.

Thought I would ask here rather than start a brand new topic: I am on my first VS flight in a couple of months, VS900 LHR to NRT, leaving at 1pm UK time, arriving sometime around 9am Tokyo time.

What times are the services on that trip?

Do you think we should get lunch early at Heathrow before we board?

p.s. thankyou to the people who suggested in an earlier thread that I call special assistance because my partner is visually imapired and we want to make sure that in the event of a full plane we are not separated - they were lovely and gave us a description of where everything was on the plane so we were sure that we got the best seat allocation

Paul, the VS900 service times are similar... to that of St Lucia as i detailed above however it will be lunch/dinner first and a hot breakfast into Tokyo.

^They're pretty much similar on EVERY flight, or were when i was crew.

When Im in Pe I always get on earlyish - and then just ask for refills - never been refused yet and gets you chatting with the crew!!!!

It will be interesting to see how my body adjusts to the time change on the way to Tokyo - I guess it will be easiest to fool it into thinking it is late by changing my watch after take-off.
