This is only certain Port Harcourt journeys (Fri) and return flights (sat). The orlando and newark are only certain forthcoming flights. Can you please make sure that if you post a topic like this you give all facts or a link to the full information

No, you implied, in two clear sentences that the following flights would cease: all flights from LGW to PHC, and then in the second sentence, some flights from LGW to EWR & MCO:

For clarity, this is the announcement on this page:
"Virgin Atlantic will be cancelling the London Gatwick to Port Harcourt VS623 Friday service and the Port Harcourt to London Gatwick VS624 Saturday service with effect from Friday 23rd September 2005."

So, the VS623 & VS624 will still run on Mondays & Wednesday (return Tuesday/Thursday) - the flight is not "ceasing", just the Friday (Saturday return) service has been cancelled.

and relating to EWR/MCO:
"Due to operational reasons, Virgin Atlantic has had to cancel the following services:

Between London and New York, Newark:
* VS017 LHR-EWR 23 Aug - 15 Nov 2005 (Tuesdays only ex-UK)
* VS018 EWR-LHR 24 Aug - 16 Nov 2005 (Wednesdays only ex-US)

Between London Gatwick and Orlando:
* VS027/028 LGW-MCO-LGW - 7, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 21, 25, 27 Sept 2005
* VS049/050 LGW-MCO-LGW - 4, 10, 17, 24 Sept 2005
Passengers will be rebooked onto the VS015/016 London Gatwick to Orlando services on the same day"

Note, at the moment these are only certain dates as listed above - not permanent. Again, the rest of the schedule will run as normal - when you say "cease", you imply it's a permanent and conclusive ending, which this does not look like it is. There's a clear difference between "cease" and "adjust schedule"

I will edit the title of this topic to be a little less misleading.

Cheers

No-one would need to "chill" if you'd simply use the right words - you said "virign atlantic are soon to cease flights from london gatwick to port harcourt in nigeria", which implies all flights!

VS are NOT "ceasing" flights to PHC - flights will still run on Mondays & Wednesdays, the Friday flight (and Saturday return) has been cancelled, that is all. Sheesh!

But still, it would be impossible for VS to cancel the LGW-EWR flights on any day.

Michael, yes, well, I am an EWR freak so I look out purposely for these things. :D

Why is it always VS27 that gets cancelled or dropped and everyone bumped to VS16? I have read loads of posts on the Dibb, Trip advisor etc recently all saying that they have had their flights changed from VS27 as its been cancelled. Lots of people are pretty angry as they had reserved seats etc months ago, I know it states that seat reservation is only a request, but still, these people have NO chance now of getting seats of their choice. I am booked onto VS27 next May, and Im going to be pretty darn hacked off if I get bumped to VS16 at the last minuite and lose the seats I requested almost a year in advance [:(]

I think it makes sense to cancel 27/28, the first flight out to MCO. So if VS have not been able to get hold of passengers or if they have incoming flights that they will be connecting from to the LGW-MCO flight they won't miss that flight.
