Dress code when flying

jeans and t-shirt/polo shirt + trainers... [8D]

but then again i am a 'creative' (or scruffy so & so if you prefer)... [:w]

For me its smart blazer, shirt, tie, lightweight trousers and black brogues. For Mrs Ian its Chanel No.5.

And the common factor here seems to be - breast pockets. Very much favoured with mr cat as well...

Jeans, T-Shirt, casual shirt over the top and brown comfortable casual shoes for me. Relaxed but not slob like.

Yesterdays VS001 flight had someone in blue shell suit trousers with a shirt. It didn't quite look right. He was in Upper Class too, so should know better. [:o)]

I was in PE, before anyone thinks it was me!

People talk about how flying lost its respect (eg. pax in shell-suits) years and years ago but in my opinion, I think it has only been since the mid-late nineties and the take-off of LCCs that people stopped wearing suits etc.

Do you feel you should dress differently when flying different airlines?

British Airways tends to attract an older crowd and the flight attendants are older. BA also tends to operate as more of an 'old guard' airline and is more formal. There cabin do not have shinely mirrors and colored lights in the cabin.

VS is fun and has a young, hip crowd. There flight attendants are younger and party. The cabin is more of a night club than a tradional airline cabin.

So does the cabin decor, fellow passenager (dall or hip-ness) and flight attendants effect your dress for a flight?

I think you are more likely to find more young-professionals who obviously dress differently to maybe the older generations on VS. For example, I think you are more likely to catch the guy who won "The Apprentice" on VS than Lord... (no offence LROM, but I'm thinking of someone a bit older then you;)) who I would expect on BA.

Actually, I have been known to favour LIGHT TAN trousers, a slightly DARKER TAN shirt (complete with breast pocket of course) and a PALIMINO sweater[8D], but beige - never;)

I'm not too fussed about what I wear on a flight, though I do try to be clean shaven (which is rare for me!)!

I usually leave shaving my legs until I get there

I usually go for a dressed-up jeans look i.e. bum not hanging out...watch out for that knicker-grabber on the escape slide [:0]

So, smart jeans, a top of some kind (and not one of my more cheeky t-shirts just in case of op-up) and smart-casual jacket, cos I get very cold (have to use both blankets mid-flight and really could do with a duvet too). Always heels (sorry but only a 5' 3" (and a 'tater' as my dad says)) even though they have to be removed in case of emergency; never go without my heels. And of course a handbag on which to hang my V-flyer tags!
